Kamenná Horka lies on the western side of the Hřebeč Massif. Two distinct themes are central to a stay here: the architectural and settlement history of the village, and hiking trails through the wooded surroundings. There is also a cycling route through the upper part of the village. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can first decide whether local history, hiking or cycling will shape your stay.

Church and cemetery: dated records

The parish Church of St Mary Magdalene is first mentioned in the 14th century. Originally Gothic, it was remodelled in the Baroque style in 1749. These represent two distinct points in time: the mention points to the village’s early history, while 1749 marks a specific architectural change. For travellers interested in historic churches, this sequence is particularly illuminating; it draws attention both to the medieval origins and to the later transformation.

The cemetery in front of the church also has several dated features. Its entrance leads through a bell tower dating from the second half of the 15th century. The cemetery contains the oldest surviving gravestone, dated 1590; a stone cross from 1836 stands in front of the cemetery. There is also a group of figures of the Holy Trinity from 1757 near the church. Together, these records span the period from the 15th to the 19th century.

A local history of two settlements

A former provincial border divided Kamenná Horka into a Bohemian settlement and a Moravian settlement. In 1950, the two were united to form the village as it exists today. This shift from a division to a single village is a notable chapter in local history. Kamenná Horka also lies at a junction of the so-called Salt Roads. These historic routes add another dimension to the story of the settlements and their location.

Hiking and cycling

The extensive forests around Kamenná Horka are well suited to hiking. Two marked hiking trails run through different parts of the village. The yellow-marked trail passes through the lower western part of the village towards Horecký hřbet. The red-marked trail runs through the upper eastern part between Březová nad Svitavou and Hřebeč. When choosing a trail, you can use the colour, its location in the village and the destinations mentioned to help you find your way. Markings and trail conditions may change, so check the latest information before setting out.

For cycling, cycle route 4029 provides another point of reference: it runs through the upper part of the village on a paved road. Signposting and route conditions may change; check the latest information before your ride.
