Dobříkov combines an unusual architectural history with historic monuments and the wetlands of Ptačí park Rzy. This gives you different areas of focus to consider when planning your trip: church and local history, memorial sites and birdlife. Each place tells its own story.

The wooden church and its history

Dobříkov’s wooden church was built in 1679 in Velká Kopani, in what is now Ukraine’s Zakarpattia Oblast. On 27 July 1930, it was moved to Dobříkov. It has been listed as an immovable cultural monument since 1963. Its construction, later relocation and protected status mark three different stages in its history.

Visits can be arranged through local contacts. Agree on a time before your visit; viewing the church requires a prior arrangement.

Na Valech and the village’s monuments

The V. J. Klofáč monument is located in the fortified “Na Valech” complex. The cultural monument comprises a forester’s lodge, the Klofáč Villa, ramparts, a moat, a cellar and a belvedere. The complex therefore includes various structural features as well as buildings. The monument and fortified complex are open by prior arrangement, both during and outside the season. A prior arrangement is required for your visit.

The statue of Jan Hus is about five metres high and made of fine-grained yellow sandstone. It was unveiled on 25 August 1912 and designated a cultural monument in 2004. The unveiling and its protected status are therefore separated by a considerable period of time. Its height, material and the two dates offer a different way to engage with the statue than the architectural history of the wooden church.

Other monuments also have their own significance. The war memorial is a four-metre-high sculpture on a sandstone pedestal. It commemorates the residents of Dobříkov and Rzy who fell in the war of 1914–1918. The granite monument “Dobříkovským z Malejova,” featuring a bronze coat of arms of the Dobříkovský z Malejova family, also stands in the upper village square.

The village’s architectural history also includes the old wooden bell tower, which was renovated by residents in 1989. Together with the church, statue and monuments, it offers another tangible point of reference if you are interested in the village’s historic landmarks.

Wetlands and birdlife at Ptačí park Rzy

Ptačí park Rzy lies between Rzy and Dobříkov, in the floodplain of the Loučná stream. A total of 213 bird species have been recorded there so far; about 100 species breed in the wetlands and their immediate surroundings. These figures distinguish between species recorded in the park and those that breed in the wetlands and the surrounding area.

The wetlands are an important breeding area for many wetland and meadow birds, an important stopover during migration and a year-round source of food. The water can be observed from several spots. The park is accessible via Zámrsk railway station and by car. This gives you a sense of Dobříkov’s natural appeal through its birdlife and wetland landscape, without conflating it with the historic monuments.

A sporting attraction

Dobříkov also has a nine-hole golf course for sporting use. This adds a distinct sporting dimension to the area’s cultural and natural attractions. The different themes can help you choose Dobříkov according to the interests that matter most for your trip: architectural and memorial history, birdlife or sport.
