In Prosec, the Planetární stezka leads from a model of the Sun to a space probe; museums and the Evangelical church offer further insights into local history and architectural heritage. When planning, it is worth considering the different trail formats: length, loop route and the hiking experience described are each separate selection criteria.

Planetary Trail, Loop Route and Educational Hiking Trails

The Planetární stezka stretches for just under 8 km through Prosec and its surroundings. It represents the solar system at a scale of 1:1 billion and begins at the model of the Sun by the town library. Its endpoint is the model of the Voyager I space probe at Dr. Tošovský Square. The route can be completed on foot or by bicycle. The two models give the trail a clear beginning and end; its theme makes it an unusual combination of physical activity and astronomical scale.

The Martinická stezka is laid out differently: it is a 24.7 km loop route that starts and ends in Prosec. This makes it possible to distinguish between two very different route formats: the nearly 8 km Planetary Trail, with its thematic endpoints, and a considerably longer loop. If the loop format is important to you, the Martinická stezka offers a specific option; the Planetární stezka, by contrast, focuses on the solar system and the models along the route.

The Studánková stezka is intended for moderately experienced hikers who are familiar with maps. This information can help you assess whether the hiking experience described matches your own. Prosec is also a natural starting point for the Pasíčka educational trail in the Maštale Nature Reserve. Prosec’s cadastral area is also part of the Maštale Nature Reserve. These two details give the landscape around the town a distinctive place in trip planning, without suggesting that all the trails have the same profile.

Church, Museums and Local Geology

The Evangelical church in Prosec is an Empire-style cultural monument, built between 1834 and 1838. During the summer months, Evangelical services are held there every Sunday from 9 a.m. People are welcome regardless of their religious denomination. If you are planning to attend a service, check the date in advance.

The Muzeum dýmek is housed in the historically protected building No. 61. Facing the square, it features a timber-framed room. The exhibitions cover both the history of the pipe and the history of the town of Prosec. The Muzeum Proseč displays around 400 pipes dating from the second half of the 19th century to the present day. In Prosec, the development of a craft object and the history of the town are thus both explored as museum topics.

Another way to explore the surroundings is Kameny v kamenitém kraji, an educational trail on the school grounds. Its collection includes ten rocks and minerals from the area around Prosec. At each stop, information boards explain the properties and occurrence of the rock or mineral in question; photographs supplement the text. The focus here is not on a single museum collection, but on geological examples from the immediate surroundings.

For navigation on your trip, the Maštale Tourist Information Centre sells tourist maps and cycling guides. If you are looking for a particular item, ask about the current selection in advance.
