Míčov-Sušice lies on the ridge of the Železné hory in a wooded landscape, about 550 meters above sea level. Its elevation, marked trails, and local historical sites offer different ways to shape your stay. When choosing accommodation, you can consider whether you would rather spend your time outdoors, hiking and cycling, or exploring architectural history and visiting a swimming spot. Míčov and Zbyslavec add specific historical sites to the nature-focused activities, while the Czech cuisine at Míčovská hospůdka adds a culinary dimension.

Landscape and Water

The wooded upland setting defines the landscape. The Luvětínský rybník near Rudov is a specific point of interest by the water: it serves as a natural swimming area. If you plan to swim there, check the current bathing conditions before your visit. This gives you two distinct nature-related options: the ridge of the Železné hory and its wooded surroundings, or the body of water as a place to swim.

Hiking Trails and Cycling Routes

There are different routes to choose from for hiking. The green-marked hiking trail leads from Třemošnice through Míčov and Sušice to Heřmanův Městec. Its sequence of places describes a route connecting several named locations. By contrast, the yellow-marked hiking trail leads to a trail junction at the Zbyslavec recreation center; here, the junction is the destination. Marked local cycling routes also pass through Míčov-Sušice. For planning, the green trail connects several places, while the yellow trail leads to the junction at the Zbyslavec recreation center; local cycling routes add to the options. Check the current markings on site before relying on the route directions.

Architectural History in Míčov and Zbyslavec

In Míčov, architectural history can be explored through two sites with different dates and styles. The Church of St. Matthew was remodeled into its present form between 1880 and 1884. The rectory dates from the late 18th century and was built in the Baroque style. The two buildings therefore offer different points of interest: the church has a specified remodeling period, while the rectory has an earlier date of origin and a stated style. Visitors interested in architecture can compare these historical landmarks without assigning both buildings to the same period.

Zbyslavec also has several landmarks that reflect local history. The bell tower was repaired and rededicated there in 1927. A statue of St. John of Nepomuk stands at the entrance to the Zbyslavec recreation center. It is believed to be about 300 years old; some records date it to 1661. The approximate age and the year given in some records are different indications of when it dates from. The estimated age of the statue should therefore be distinguished from the date given in those records.

Míčovská hospůdka serves Czech cuisine. If you plan to visit, check that it is currently open beforehand.
