Church history, brewery culture, and river and cycling routes offer different ways to plan a trip to Hanušovice.

A Church with Several Building Phases

The Church of St. Nicholas in Hanušovice has a late Renaissance core dating from 1656 and was remodelled in the Baroque style in 1783. The two dates therefore refer to different phases in the building’s history: 1656 marks the core, while 1783 marks the later remodelling. Two side chapels complete the church. The site also includes a Baroque statue of St. John of Nepomuk dating from 1748. Together, the church and statue offer several specific points of reference for exploring the local architectural and religious history.

Other Architectural Details

The building known as “bývalá rychta,” the former magistrate’s house, has two stone cellars arranged one behind the other, with barrel vaults. The term describes an elongated, arched form of vaulting; here, this construction is present in both cellars. The Chapel of the Offering of the Virgin Mary provides a different architectural accent: its small hexagonal tower is topped by a lantern, an onion dome and a finial. These specific features make the chapel easy to describe even without a detailed art-historical interpretation.

Brewery Culture and Practical Information

The Pivovarské muzeum Hanušovice is fully accessible. Confirm accessibility before your trip. Visitors can book a brewery tour at Pivovar Holba; booking arrangements may change, so it is advisable to check in advance. The museum and the tour offer two distinct ways to explore the brewery theme.

The Hanušovice Tourist Information Centre provides information about cultural monuments, natural attractions, and rail and road routes in Czechia. It also rents trekking poles and provides bicycle service tools. As its information and services may change, check in advance that the services you need are available. The information about rail and road routes covers Czechia, so this part of the centre’s offer extends beyond individual local attractions.

Paddling on the Morava

The Hanušovice–Olomouc section of the Vodácká stezka Morava is listed as an 86-kilometre paddling route. The Hanušovice–Postřelmov section is rated up to WW1 in difficulty. These figures refer to sections with different names and describe different things: the kilometre figure indicates the route length, while WW1 indicates a difficulty rating. Treat them as separate planning details, not as a single route profile. Water conditions and navigability vary seasonally; take this limitation into account when planning.

Two Different Cycling Routes

The YEScyklo-Pivovarský okruh route runs from Hanušovice to Rejchartické sedlo. From there, you can enjoy wide-ranging views over the Jeseníky Mountains. From Hanušovice to Mohelnice, the Moravská stezka mostly follows the Morava River. The stated destinations and landscape features differ: the first route’s notable reference point is the pass and its mountain views, while the second follows the river towards Mohelnice. This makes it possible to compare the cycling options by their stated destinations without combining them into a single route.
