Hrabišín combines the hilly landscape of the Jeseník foothills with specific places to visit during your stay: a reservoir used as a natural swimming area, a blue-marked hiking trail towards the ruins of Rabštejn Castle, and several cultural sites. This offers a choice of different activities—from a walk to exploring local history. When planning, it helps to focus on the activity you want rather than treating all the destinations as one single itinerary.

Landscape, reservoir and hiking trail

Hrabišín Reservoir is used as a natural swimming area and is also a destination for walks by local residents and tourists. It therefore offers two different reasons to visit: exercise by the water or time for swimming. Facilities and water conditions may vary. If you plan to swim, check the conditions on site; the reservoir is also a destination in its own right for a walk.

Another way to get some exercise is the blue-marked hiking trail at Hrabišín railway station. It heads northeast towards the ruins of Rabštejn Castle. The direction and destination give the route a clear point of reference. Check the trail markings and conditions locally before setting out. Those interested in a hike with a historic destination can choose this instead of a walk by the reservoir.

Cultural sites and local history

At the end of Hrabišín in the direction of Dlouhomilov stands the plague column known as the “Morový sloup.” Its location on the edge of the village distinguishes it from the sculpture “Kosmický věk” (“Cosmic Age”), which is outdoors on a landscaped park terrace in front of the main entrance to the primary school. These two places give art and monuments in Hrabišín different local contexts.

In the settlement of Dolní Olešná, within Hrabišín, stands a protected cultural monument dating from 1820: an Empire-style wayside shrine. A cemetery was also laid out around a chapel. These places add different forms of remembrance and religious local history to the picture of the municipality’s past.

The present-day municipality of Hrabišín was formed by the merger of the four historic municipalities of Dolní Olešná, Horní Olešná, Loučky and Hrabišín. This history provides a framework for considering the distribution of local chapels and monuments in relation to the former municipal parts. Together with the plague column, wayside shrine and sculpture, these sites offer a way to explore local history that is not limited to a single memorial site.

Getting there by bus

Two bus services are relevant for planning your journey. IDSOK route 212 connects Šumperk, Hrabišín, Brníčko, Leština and Zábřeh. The stated timetable is valid from 14 June to 12 December 2026. Route 930204 connects Šumperk, Hrabišín, Libina and Oskava; its stated timetable is valid from 14 December 2025 to 12 December 2026. Both routes pass through Hrabišín, but serve different stops along the way. Check departures for your travel date and, if travelling after 12 December 2026, check the timetable then in effect.

Whether you plan your stay around the reservoir, the hiking trail or the cultural sites, each destination represents a different side of Hrabišín. Checking the bus routes and the conditions at your chosen destination will help you plan your day around your interests.
