For a trip to Bohdíkov, you can explore nature and architectural history through specific places. Na Hadci above Raškov is known for its landscape of serpentinite rocks; in Bohdíkov, the Baroque church and the Tvrz tell the stories of different eras. The Štola Mařka, in the grounds of the abandoned Exler quarry, adds a winter refuge for rare bat species to these themes. You can choose your focus based on whether you are more interested in protected nature, architecture, or both.

Nature between serpentinite rocks and a bat refuge

The Na Hadci protected area covers 56 ha and lies above Raškov. Relict pine stands grow on serpentinite rock outcrops, surrounded by fir-beech and maple-beech forests. Also protected are communities on serpentinite rocks, fragments of pine and beech forests, and characteristic weathering formations. The geological substrate and different forest communities are therefore equally part of the area’s natural appeal. If you choose natural sites by their character, Na Hadci offers a close-up look at the interplay of serpentine, vegetation, and weathering formations.

The Štola Mařka is located in the grounds of the abandoned Exler quarry in Bohdíkov. It is the largest hibernation site for rare bat species in the Šumperk District. The mine is accessible for 320 m from the entrance. The natural features of the two sites are therefore distinct: Na Hadci focuses on serpentinite rocks, forest communities, and weathering, while Mařka is a winter refuge for rare bats.

The church and the Tvrz: two historical landmarks

The Kostel sv. Petra a Pavla church in Bohdíkov was built in the Baroque style in 1725 and is listed as an immovable cultural monument. It is a landmark visible from a distance. Its features include a semicircular end and a square tower. The construction date and style establish its period, while the end and tower are distinctive architectural features. The church thus combines a clearly defined era with a characteristic silhouette.

Bohdíkov’s oldest building is the Tvrz – dům č.p. 55. It retains a Renaissance core dating from the second half of the 16th century and was declared a state cultural monument in 2000. For a sense of chronology, compare it with the church: 1725 is the church’s construction date, while the second half of the 16th century dates the Renaissance core of the Tvrz. The year 2000 marks the Tvrz’s designation as a state cultural monument. This lets you distinguish the construction date or period from the later heritage protection status. The two buildings thus represent different architectural and historical points of reference.

Arrival information

There is also a specific point to consider when planning your arrival: access to the Bohdíkov railway station building or railway stop, including the passenger shelter, is step-free. If this is important to you, you can take it into account when choosing your travel connection.
