Glassworks history, architecture and educational trails offer a range of themes for a stay in Rapotín. At the Muzeum rapotínské sklárny, the history of glassmakers takes centre stage; the trails offer other highlights, from a loop featuring the Lesní balneo to historic springs and mineralogical sites. There is also a golf option for complete beginners. You can therefore explore culture, exercise and learning as distinct themes.
Glassmaking History and Church Architecture
The Muzeum rapotínské sklárny tells the story of Rapotín’s glassmakers and glassworks in a chronologically arranged exhibition. Typical glassworks products and a glass-melting furnace are also featured. The chronological presentation traces the history, while the products and furnace bring the craft and the glassworks into focus as tangible subjects.
The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary combines several building phases. It was completed in 1874 on the site of the demolished late-Gothic Church of St James the Greater and is a Neo-Gothic ensemble built on older foundations. Its stained-glass windows were created by the Brno art company Říha in 1929. At the church, you can distinguish the earlier building, the older foundations, the completion of the Neo-Gothic ensemble and a later addition in glass. Architecture enthusiasts will find more than a single style label here: the building’s history encompasses several clearly identified stages.
Educational Trails with Different Themes
The Naučná stezka Bukovka educational trail is a 7.5-kilometre loop that starts and ends at the Rapotín municipal office. The route is marked throughout with yellow tourist signs. It includes the Lesní balneo, with two foot pools of different depths and a special pool for hands and forearms. There is also a barefoot path over stones of various shapes and sizes. The tour thus combines a clearly defined circular route with several different elements of the balneo.
The Naučná stezka Petrovské studánky is a moderately challenging educational loop in the Prostřední skály massif. It starts in Rapotín and leads to the historic Anenská studánka spring, which has a shelter. The trail is suitable for hiking and Nordic walking. Its appeal lies in both the character of the loop and a specific destination: the historic spring and its shelter.
The loop Přes Granátovou skálu a Kamenitý kopec follows forest roads and paths around Kamenitý kopec. Along the way, it passes the mineralogical sites of Granátová skála, Kožušná and Černé kameny, as well as historic stone paths. The route highlights several named sites and traces of old paths. If these are the themes you are looking for on a trip, you can make them the focus of your visit.
The Bukovka lookout tower offers views of the Jeseníky Mountains, the Rychlebské hory and the Údolí Desné. Alongside the trails described above, this makes the tower another distinct point of interest.
