Landscape and Location
Kralice na Hané combines the history of Haná with a location that can be pinpointed precisely: the town lies 5 km east of Prostějov in the fertile Haná plain. It is situated on a low terrace on the northeastern edge of the broad floodplain of the Valová, below its confluence with the Romže. Historic buildings, religious traditions, culture and sport offer different focal points for a stay. You can therefore set your own priorities when planning: architectural history, regional customs or active leisure.
History and Architecture
Kralice na Hané was first mentioned in written records in 1225. In 1316, John of Luxembourg granted the town its own laws; by that time, Kralice na Hané already had the right to hold markets. The castle stands on the site of a former fortress, and the present building dates to 1637. The Seilern family subsequently used the castle as a summer residence for a hundred years.
The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was built between 1790 and 1793. It is protected as an immovable cultural monument and is listed in the Central List of Immovable Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic. A Renaissance church tower dating from 1578 survived later alterations and forms the basis of the present tower. The hexagonal Cemetery Chapel of the Holy Cross dates from 1823. In the Kraličky district, the Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk stands in the middle of the village street.
