In Bílovice-Lutotín, a natural monument, prehistoric remains and Haná heritage offer different reasons to visit. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can start by choosing your main focus: are you more interested in the landscape and archaeological traces, or in architectural and religious history? The place names Bílovice and Lutotín help put the chapels and Haná heritage into context. This way, you can choose based on the topics that interest you, rather than following a prescribed sightseeing route.

Natural monument and traces of prehistory

Na Hůrkách is a protected natural monument covering an area of 5.4804 hectares. The protected area includes land in Bílovice-Lutotín. This precise figure provides a clear measure of the area covered by this natural feature. If you consider the landscape and history side by side, you can distinguish Na Hůrkách from Hrad u Bílovic: the focus here is on the protected status of an area, while there it is on the surviving structural traces of a prehistoric fortification.

Hrad u Bílovic is a prehistoric fortified site on a spur of land above the Romže River. A massive rampart and two ditches have survived. Its position above the river provides the topographical context, while the rampart and ditches identify the surviving elements of the fortification. The site can therefore be understood both through its location and its specific archaeological form.

Chapels and Haná heritage

The religious buildings differ in location and date. In Lutotín, the Chapel of the Virgin Mary dates from 1808; a rare wooden statue of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows once stood there. The Chapel of St. Anne, also in Lutotín, dates from 1822. In Bílovice, the Chapel of St. Florian was consecrated in 1782. The dates therefore refer to different events: 1808 and 1822 are the construction dates of the two chapels in Lutotín, while 1782 is the year the chapel in Bílovice was consecrated.

The Hanácký žudr in Bílovice offers a different perspective on local architectural history. This rare example of rural folk architecture was built in the 18th century. It is a masonry Haná farmhouse with outbuildings, a vaulted entrance hall and a granary on the upper floor. The entrance hall and granary give the description an architectural focus, while the chapels are distinguished by their different dates and the former statue of the Virgin Mary.

Local history and travel planning

The first written record of Bílovice dates from 1305. The railway is also part of Lutotín’s history: Lutotín station was established in 1919 on the railway line from Prostějov towards Konice and onward to Chornice in the Pardubický kraj. Routes and nature topics

The “Stezky k Bílovskému hradu” project created a marked route through the area in 2020. Along the trails, information panels describe the local flora, fauna and geology. This adds specific natural history topics to the archaeological traces. The project also established four rest areas. When planning your walks, it is a good idea to check the current condition of the markers, information panels and rest areas. This will help you take the different highlights of the area into account and adapt your plans to the conditions on the day of your visit.
