In the central, hilly part of the Nízký Jeseník, Lipina combines landscape and cultural connections with routes through the municipality. Part of a nature park, two tourist rest areas and a chapel in the centre provide landmarks; the cycling route and nature trail continue beyond Lipina. You can therefore experience nature, local history and routes as different aspects of a stay.
Landscape and Rest Areas
About 44 percent of the municipality of Lipina lies within Sovinecko Nature Park. The nature park was established to protect the character of the landscape and woodland areas with a tree composition close to the original vegetation. Lipina’s location in the Nízký Jeseník and the part of the municipality within the nature park offer different points of reference for understanding the landscape.
Two tourist rest areas were built in Lipina in 2018: one by a pond, the other along the path to Oldřichovský kopec. From there, you can enjoy a beautiful view of Haná. This provides two different places to stop in the municipality: one by the water and another with a view across Haná.
Routes Through Lipina
The 36 km-long “Za živou vodou” cycling route starts at the square in Šternberk and passes through Dolní Žleb, Horní Žleb, Dalov, Horní Loděnice, Těšíkov and Lipina before returning to the square in Šternberk. It runs through rolling terrain with a considerable elevation difference. Lipina is therefore part of a circuit that connects several places and starts and ends in Šternberk. The route length and terrain are useful considerations when planning this circuit for a day out.
The Zelená stezka nature trail leads from Šternberk through Lipina and Těšíkov to the Těšíkovská kyselka mineral spring. Its route differs from the “Za živou vodou” cycling route: the latter returns to Šternberk, while Zelená stezka continues to a named spring. The two routes can therefore be distinguished by their layout: a circuit connecting several places or a route leading to a destination.
Motorsport is also connected with the municipality: the Ecce Homo hill-climb course passes through Lipina. The ECCE HOMO ŠTERNBERK course is listed as 7,800 m long, with an elevation difference of 307 m. This means that, alongside the cycling route and nature trail, the specific measurements of a racing course provide another distinct route-related point of interest.
Chapel and Local History
The masonry chapel of “Navštívení Panny Marie” stands in the centre of Lipina. It replaced a wooden chapel in 1838 and was fully reconstructed inside and out in 2013. Coming from Šternberk, the chapel is about 50 m from the road, at the junction with the road to Těšíkov. Its building history is thus complemented by a precise location in the centre of the village.
The earliest recorded mention of the existence of the municipality of Lipina dates from 1296. Another named landmark is the statue of Ježíš Kristus behind Lipina, near the old Ecce Homo road. It has outstanding aesthetic and constructional qualities, adding a landmark outside the village centre to the chapel’s building history.
