Hlásnice lies at the foot of the Nízký Jeseník; Sovinecko Nature Park covers almost the entire area. The landscape and trails, as well as local history around the Chapel of St. George, are part of Hlásnice. Regularly held events may also play a role in choosing when to travel.
Nature and views at Dančák
The Dančák natural pond lies at an elevated spot above Hlásnice, at an altitude of about 400 m. It offers views of the surrounding landscape, particularly to the south across the Morava valley and towards Olomouc. The area around the natural pond serves as a place for short daily breaks. Dančák offers a particular scenic viewpoint, while numerous trails and paths in Hlásnice lead to walks in the surrounding countryside.
Hiking and cycling
A blue-marked hiking route runs along the edge of Hlásnice’s cadastral area in a northwest–southeast direction. It starts at Mladějovice railway station and passes through Řídeč, Vysoká Roudná, Dubová hora and Chabičov, before passing through Hlásnice and continuing via Dolní Žleb to Šternberk. Check the trail signs before setting out.
The “Do hlubin věků” cycling route also passes through Hlásnice. It forms a loop via Šternberk, Babice, Mladějovice, Komárov, Řídeč, Mutkov and Chabičov, returning to Šternberk. The route follows both paved roads and unpaved forest tracks. Conditions may change with the seasons; check the route locally before riding.
Chapel and local history
The first written mention of Hlásnice dates from 1371. The medieval and modern-era village centre is an area with documented archaeological finds or where such finds are reasonably believed to exist. Memorial plaques bearing the names of victims of the First and Second World Wars are mounted on the walls of the Chapel of St. George.
Masses are held regularly in the chapel from spring to autumn. If you would like to attend a Mass, check the times separately. Other regularly held events include the St. George’s pilgrimage in Hlásnice. The Jarní běh Hlásničák spring run is also held regularly, and a Kubb tournament takes place every summer. Dates may vary from year to year. If you would like to include one of these events in your stay, check the relevant dates before travelling.
Getting around the village
Hlásnice is situated mainly along road II/445 Šternberk–Huzová–Rýmařov, which connects the village with Šternberk. The village has a children’s playground with equipment for younger and older children, as well as fitness equipment for teenagers and adults. The surface of the multi-purpose sports field was renewed in 2018. The facilities and the history of the field’s surface are two separate details: the playground description refers to the equipment available, while the year refers to an earlier resurfacing.
