For a hike starting in Bělá Pod Pradědem, Vysoký vodopád offers a clearly defined destination: it is the highest waterfall in the Jeseníky Mountains, with a drop of 28 metres. The approach begins at the “Vodopády” bus stop in Bělá Pod Pradědem and follows a blue-marked hiking trail for about 3.6 kilometres. The trail marking and approximate distance help you gauge this section of the route. As trail conditions can change with the seasons, it is worth checking the current situation before setting out.
Waterfalls and their trails
The Rudohorské waterfalls are centred around a cascade system that reaches about 60 metres in total height and extends for approximately 120 metres. Unlike the 28-metre drop of Vysoký vodopád, these figures describe the overall height and length of a series of cascades. The route to the Rudohorské waterfalls is for pedestrians and runs partly along a forest track and partly along cycle route 6207. Terrain and trail conditions can vary with the seasons; bear this in mind when planning your trip.
Hikes and via ferrata
The “S Koprníčkem na Keprník” educational trail is 14 kilometres long, of moderate difficulty, and includes twelve stops with information about the history and nature of the Šerák-Keprník Nature Reserve. Compared with the approximately 3.6-kilometre approach to Vysoký vodopád, this is a considerably longer route; at the same time, the stops make history and nature explicit themes of the hike. This lets you choose not only by distance, but also by the focus you are looking for. Trail conditions may be affected by the season.
The Ferrata Kalafatičova plotna via ferrata park in Bělá Pod Pradědem offers a different focus from the hiking trails. It has six short routes graded A to C, as well as two rope bridges. Check the equipment requirements and operating arrangements before your visit.
Local history and nature conservation
The remains of a medieval fortification are located in the centre of the Adolfovice district, on the left bank of the Bělá. They are near road 44, behind the Jesan company premises and close to the “Bělá pod Pradědem, Adolfovice – Mlýnky” bus stop. The forest cemetery was established in the early 1960s as a memorial honouring Russian prisoners of war buried in the surrounding forests. Together, the remains of the fortification and the forest cemetery represent two distinct historical themes: a medieval defensive structure and remembrance of prisoners of war.
The Filipovické louky Nature Reserve (code 1527) is of regional ecological, scientific and aesthetic importance. It protects endangered plant and animal species associated with wet spring-fed meadows and their habitats. The focus here is therefore on protected meadow habitats and the species that depend on them.
