Dolní Lhota combines a distinctive church building and memorial sites with a short nature trail and specific cycling connections. When planning your trip, you can choose between local history, information about the forest and rides along designated routes. The different highlights make the village interesting to travellers who want to focus on culture, nature or cycling.

Church, History and Memorial Sites

The Church of St Cyril and Methodius shapes the village’s appearance and is considered a distinctive architectural landmark of Dolní Lhota. Historical references to the village date back to 1377. Two memorials commemorate different events: one in the local cemetery remembers fallen tank crews. Near the school stands a memorial to T. G. Masaryk, founder of the Czechoslovak state and its first president.

The village chapel also offers a special insight into the local landscape. After its restoration in 2023, it was made accessible so passers-by could look inside. If you plan to look inside, check access arrangements before your visit.

Nature Trail and Cycling

The nature trail in Dolní Lhota is approximately 1 km long and has 17 learning stations. It playfully introduces visitors to interesting plant and animal species in the local forest. Its short distance and stations give the trail a clear focus: it is dedicated to learning about the forest. Those interested in plant and animal life will find it a distinct nature experience to include in their travel plans.

Two cycling routes are described in particular detail. Cycling Route 6199 passes through Dolní Lhota from Vřesina towards Horní Lhota. In the municipality, it follows a forest track alongside a yellow-marked hiking trail; an information board stands near the cycle tram stop. The Radegast Slezsko cycling route runs from Velká Polom to Dolní Lhota and, from the village centre, follows Lesní Street together with Cycling Route 6199. The routes therefore differ in their directions and share a stretch through the village. Dolní Lhota also has a cycle path and hiking trail markings maintained by KČT.

Getting There and an Event

Tram route 915005 connects Ostrava, Dolní Lhota and Budišovice. Check the timetable before travelling to make sure your journey fits the current services.

A specific event for cycling enthusiasts is the announced eighth Dolnolhotský BAJK: the mountain bike race is scheduled to take place in Dolní Lhota on Saturday, 19 June 2027. The event is also set to include mountain bike races for children in categories K and H; categories may vary from one edition to another. If you are planning your stay around the race, check the date and programme again before travelling.
