Smilovice U Třince offers several distinct reasons to visit. Cycle route No. 56 leads to Bukovec, and the bike centre has a natural pump track. There is also a marked hiking section, protected-area connections, and places of religious and historical significance. When choosing a place to stay, you can first consider whether exercise, scenery or local history should be your main focus.

Cycling and sports in Smilovice

Cycle route No. 56 runs from Smilovice to Bukovec. The Smilovice bike centre offers a different cycling attraction: a natural pump track. The route is defined by its two place names, while the bike centre is defined by a specific facility. In 2025, construction of a jump line and a skill zone for the bike centre was completed on the grounds of the Smilovice Sports Centre.

The sports centre itself has two grass pitches, tennis courts and a multi-purpose hall. This means that the area offers other sports and facilities in addition to cycling.

Hiking trail and landscape connections

The marked blue trail from Střítež railway station towards Guty forms the opening section of the traditional Mánes Trail. The details differ clearly when comparing hiking and cycling: for the hiking trail, the starting point, direction and its status as the opening section are specified; cycle route No. 56 is identified by its endpoints, Smilovice and Bukovec.

The southwestern part of the Smilovice cadastral area extends into the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Beskydy). The Beskydy European Site of Community Importance (EVL Beskydy, CZ0724089) covers the same 222.1 hectares within the municipality as CHKO Beskydy. The figure therefore refers to the same area under two protected-area designations, not two separate areas of 222.1 hectares each.

There is also an opportunity to swim in the wild at the Ropičanka. If you plan to swim, check the conditions on site.

Karmel and historical sites

Karmel is a spiritual and educational centre in Smilovice. Services are held at the Karmel Centre at 9:00 a.m. on the fourth Sunday of every month. This regular schedule provides a specific time to help plan a stay with a religious focus.

One historical landmark is House No. 77, regarded as the birthplace of Jerzy Buzek and bearing a commemorative plaque. The Smilovice war memorial represents a different aspect of local history. It is a war grave without human remains and relates to events of the First World War.

Restaurants and parking

Restaurants in Smilovice include Restaurace Sportcentrum Smilovice and Hospůdka U pošty. Parking is available at the Smilovice Sports Centre, in the village centre and at the cemetery. Three specific parking locations are therefore listed for those arriving by car, while the two named restaurants provide options for planning meals.
