Kunčice pod Ondřejníkem brings together distinctive cultural themes with nature and hiking. When looking for a holiday rental, you can first consider whether culture, nature or a mix of both will shape your stay: the different places and activities offer distinct highlights.
Forest reserve and native trees
Les Na Rozdílné is a nature reserve in the cadastral area of Kunčice pod Ondřejníkem. Its conservation purpose includes a regionally significant, near-natural mixed forest ecosystem, a gene pool of autochthonous trees and a habitat for endangered animal species. “Autochthonous” means native here: the conservation focus is therefore on the forest itself, the genetic diversity of native trees and wildlife habitats. This makes forest ecology one of the place’s distinctive themes alongside its cultural monuments.
Wooden church, iconostasis and art
The wooden Dřevěný kostel sv. Prokopa a sv. Barbory, also known as “Ruský kostelík”, is considered the most significant landmark in Kunčice pod Ondřejníkem and is a protected cultural monument. Its richly carved iconostasis is especially striking: the icons are arranged on five levels. This makes it possible to appreciate the church not only for its wooden construction, but also for a specific detail of its furnishings.
The Karla Svolinského Gallery houses artworks and donations from more than 246 Czech and international artists. Outdoor installations stand in front of the gallery and are open to the public year-round; please observe the conditions on site. Another listed monument is located in front of the church Kostel sv. Máří Magdalény: the stone cross there is a protected monument with the Czech heritage register number 45703/8-679.
