Puletschnei offers several ways to get to know a place: historical landmarks in the village, nature watching by the stream, and hiking trails to the Kopanina Lookout Tower. You can focus on brief insights into the village’s history or on a longer outdoor activity. Those interested in both can explore the different themes without combining them into a single route.
Chapel and Monuments in the Village
The chapel in Puletschnei dates from 1934 and was extensively reconstructed in 2012. Pilgrimage Masses and Advent celebrations are held there. The year it was built and its reconstruction mark two distinct stages in its history; the religious and seasonal events also give the place a recurring annual rhythm.
The statue of Saint Anne on the Scheybal Trail also has a documented history: it was restored in 2019 and consecrated in spring 2020. The restoration and consecration were two separate events. This sequence of dates is as specific a detail about the monument as its connection to the named trail.
Another distinctive landmark is the božà muka in Puletschnei. The column-shaped wayside shrine has a niche and a gilded Latin cross. It has been a protected monument since April 22, 2025. Its simple form and the listed structural features can be noted alongside its official protected status.
A cross near house No. 23 stands in the southern part of Puletschnei, east of a local road. Joseph Pietsch of PuleÄŤnĂ˝ had it erected in 1828. At the upper edge of the settlement, the PietĂ ensemble stands beside the road from KlĂÄŤnov to PuleÄŤnĂ˝. Its reliefs depict Saint Joseph, Saint Anne, and Saint Joachim; the ensemble is dated 1795 on its shaft.
The two monuments offer different points of reference for a closer look: the person who commissioned the cross and the year it was commissioned are known, while the PietĂ ensemble is identified by its three depicted saints and the date on its shaft. Together with the chapel and the statue on the Scheybal Trail, they form a picture of different styles and dates, rather than a single period.
Stream, Educational Trail, and Views
The stream that flows through Puletschnei is also noteworthy for nature enthusiasts: bullheads (Cottus gobio) can still be observed in it today. This specific species offers a different way to experience the village than its monuments do. Those interested in both history and nature will find two clearly distinct themes here.
From Puletschnei, the Kopanina Lookout Tower can be reached on foot via marked hiking trails. The brick tower dates from 1894. From the top, the view stretches across Hruboskalsko, the Trosky ruins, Turnov, Ještěd, the Krkonoše Mountains, and Kozákov. The view takes in named places, a ruin, and landscapes; the tower itself is a separate excursion focus alongside the landmarks in the village.
The Scheybal educational trail runs through Puletschnei and has 17 stops. They cover notable monuments, historical stories, and natural attractions. The range therefore extends beyond individual buildings: the stops include both history and nature. Those choosing a walk for its variety of themes can compare this mix with the marked hiking trails to the lookout tower.
Winter Activities
The gentle slopes around Puletschnei are particularly suitable for children and beginners who want to ski. This seasonal activity differs from the hiking trails and the educational trail.
A municipal winter update dated January 6, 2026, also mentions a cross-country skiing circuit about 30 kilometers long. It runs from HuntĂĹ™ov through Maršovice, Dalešice, and Puletschnei, then back to HuntĂĹ™ov. The named places and approximate distance help put this option in context as a larger loop, rather than confusing it with a route through the village. For specific winter planning, it is advisable to check the route’s current status. The options therefore differ in scale: gentle slopes for skiing and a cross-country skiing circuit connecting several places.
