At the centre of Wintersgrün (Vintířov) stands the neo-Gothic Chapel of St. Anne. You can combine cultural history here with some activity in the forest park or a cycle ride along cycle route 2012. A nature trail was also established west of Vintířov, leading towards a spoil tip shaped by lignite mining and land reclamation. The themes therefore range from the town centre to a landscape with a history of its own.
Chapel and historic traces
The Chapel of St. Anne was built in 1906. It stands in the centre of Vintířov, on the right bank of the Vintířovský potok and beside the main road. The chapel was fully reconstructed in 2006. The two dates mark different stages in its history: 1906 refers to its construction, and 2006 to its later reconstruction.
The half-timbered house No. 25 is also one of Vintířov’s sights. Another historic column has also been restored on the road to Chodov. The chapel, half-timbered house and column offer different points of interest if you are interested in the architectural and local history.
The 2025 edition of Rockfest Vintířov was described as a traditional music event. Dates and performers vary with each edition. If you would like to plan your stay around the festival, check the dates for the edition you wish to attend.
Get active in the forest park
The forest park in Vintířov offers seating, exercise equipment for seniors, a workout wall and opportunities for inline skating. Jiří Ošecký Forest Park has an asphalt circuit for inline skating, a workout area, beach volleyball and streetball courts, and a children’s playground with climbing equipment. Alongside opportunities for exercise and sport, there are also places to sit. Facilities may change over time; check their current condition before visiting.
Cycle route and mining history
Cycle route 2012 runs from Vintířov through Chodov, Nová Role and Velký Rybník to Hroznětín, and is 26 kilometres long. Its route and total length give you a clear framework for planning your ride. As route conditions may change, it is advisable to check the route’s current condition before setting out.
The Velká krušnohorská výsypka nature trail was established west of Vintířov, leading towards the spoil tip. Velká krušnohorská výsypka is an artificial hill created by large-scale lignite mining followed by landscape reclamation. A 2022 description reported that the nature trail was overgrown and not maintained. Check its current condition before planning a walk.

A municipal price list from July 2025 listed bowling, squash, fitness and table tennis at Sportcentrum Vintířov. Check current opening hours before visiting. This lets you choose how much to focus on local history, leisure activities and landscape, according to your interests, without having to combine them into a set itinerary.
