Dotterwies (Tatrovice) offers several distinct points of interest for a stay: the view from the rocky outcrop at Chodaublick, route guidance by the water, and cultural and historical landmarks ranging from a Gothic church to a mine adit. When choosing your destination, you can decide whether you are more interested in views, history by the water or cultural landmarks.
Views and routes by the water
Chodaublick is a viewpoint in Tatrovice. From a rocky outcrop, the view stretches across Chodov to Hory, Vintířov, Nové Sedlo and Karlovy Vary. The viewpoint offers a distinctive landscape feature: rather than a single structure, several named places are visible. If you want to plan your outing around the landscape, the view is a clear highlight.
From Tatrovice, follow the yellow tourist trail markers to Chodovská vyhlídka. As trail markings can change, check the waymarks before setting out. The official route follows the Tatrovický potok and continues to Tatrovice.
The dam as infrastructure
The Tatrovice dam was built between 1966 and 1969 as a water-supply reservoir for the Vřesová industrial complex. There is a parking lot directly below the dam. As visitor facilities can change, check whether the parking lot is currently available before travelling. The water-related themes are distinct: the Tatrovický potok provides a point of reference along the official route, while the dam highlights the history of water supply.
Church and statue in historical context
The original Gothic parish church of St. Erhard was built in the first half of the 14th century and has been a protected monument since 3 May 1958. It is occasionally open to visitors; visits may depend on local arrangements. If the church is important to your plans, check access in advance. The polychrome, late Baroque statue of St. John of Nepomuk, dating from 1783, still stands in the central part of the former village green. Polychrome describes its use of multiple colors; late Baroque places the statue within an art-historical period. Together, the two landmarks represent different historical layers: medieval church architecture and late Baroque sculpture.
The Štola Bílá paní mine adit
Štola Bílá paní is a mine adit at the foot of Liščí kopec near Tatrovice. The main adit is approximately 40 meters long and curves southwest; the only side adit is cut into the rock toward the northeast. Its length, curve and compass direction help distinguish the main adit from the side adit. Before the Second World War, residents of the surrounding communities knew Štola by the name “Cave of the White Lady.” Alongside the structure’s layout, this historical nickname also connects it to local memory.
