The Březová cross-country ski trail system covers 17 kilometers. The Zaniklé obce Březovska educational trail has a very different focus: it is 63.5 kilometers long in total and passes through 18 villages that have partly or completely disappeared. The route is particularly suitable for walkers and cyclists. The two offerings represent different ways to spend time outdoors: cross-country skiing on a trail system, or a longer route centered on the theme of vanished villages.
Trails and landscape
When planning your stay, it is worth first deciding what you would like to focus on. For cross-country skiing, the Březová system has a stated total length of 17 kilometers. At 63.5 kilometers, the educational trail is considerably longer and is intended for walkers and cyclists. The trail focuses on the 18 villages that have partly or completely disappeared, combining physical activity with a historical theme.
The landscape also has its own regional context: Březovsko forms the northern part of the Slavkovský les Protected Landscape Area. This adds a broader landscape setting to the specific information about the ski trails and educational trail. If you are interested in the natural and cultural landscape, you can consider this context alongside the two different ways to get active.
Chapel, church and historic traces
The Chapel of St. Mary Magdalene is a landmark in Kamenice. A viewpoint near the chapel offers views of Sokolovsko, Chebsko, Lake Medard and some areas of nearby Germany. The viewpoint thus connects a specific structure with a broad vista across several named landscapes. When planning your visit, the viewpoint near the chapel is the main reference point.
In Kostelní Bříza, the late Baroque Church of St. Peter and Paul is one of the most important monuments. There is also a fortification there measuring 18 to 20 meters in diameter. The church and the fortification offer different reasons to explore the town’s historic heritage: one is a late Baroque religious building, while the other is a structure whose size can be described with a specific measurement.
Culture in Březová
The renovated Kulturní dům a Multifunkční centrum Březová is a multipurpose cultural and social facility in Březová u Sokolova. The building is home to the Admira digital cinema and also has an open-air amphitheater. This provides two different venues within the same facility: a cinema and an outdoor stage. Screenings and events may change. If you would like to plan your stay around a particular film or event, check the current program in advance.
You can organize the offerings by interest: cross-country skiing and the long educational trail offer different ways to get active, while the chapel, church and fortification provide historical points of interest. The cinema and amphitheater add cultural events to the mix.
