Voitersreuth combines a specifically described network of cycling routes with evidence of settlement and transport history. It is also home to the U Sedmi rybníků Nature Reserve. This means you can consider the village from several perspectives when planning your trip: route choices, the rural settlement pattern and historical development.

Cycling Connections and Route Choices

Cycling Route 2065 starts at an intersection in the centre of Voitersreuth, where it connects to Cycling Route 36. The local Route 2065 runs from Voitersreuth via Hazlov to Polná. It is 9 kilometres long, or 14 kilometres with detours, providing two specific distance options for planning.

A regional description, last updated in 2008, traces National Cycling Route 23 through Voitersreuth at kilometre 17 and notes a connection to local Route 2065 on the outskirts of the village. This connection on the outskirts is therefore not in the same place as the connection between Route 2065 and Cycling Route 36 in the village centre. The information describes different points of reference in the cycling network: a local route with two length options and a numbered point along National Cycling Route 23.

At the junction with Route 2065 in Voitersreuth, Cycling Route 36 connects the Český les with the Krušné hory. The local route and a connection between these two regions therefore meet here. When choosing a cycling trip, you can use the specific length of Route 2065 and the broader regional connection provided by Route 36 as different points of reference.

Farmsteads and Local History

Voitersreuth’s settlement pattern is characterised by a clustered arrangement of farmsteads, with no central village square. The village’s historical parish affiliation also reflects its history without a church, rectory or cemetery in the village: none of these buildings ever existed in Vojtanov, and its residents belonged to the parish in Horní Lomany.

Two rural properties with different historical records are among the protected cultural monuments. Property No. 12 dates from around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. Property No. 14 was designated a cultural monument in 1992/93. Their numbers and dates help distinguish the two monuments rather than treating them as a single ensemble from the same period.

The historic village landscape also includes a mill called “Die Dorfmuhle.” It stood in Vojtanov on the Vonšovský potok. Together with the farmsteads and the two cultural monuments, it broadens the picture of local history to include different types of rural buildings.

Nature Conservation and Transport History

The U Sedmi rybníků Nature Reserve is located in Voitersreuth. It adds a natural dimension to the cycling connections and historic settlement pattern, without requiring any additional activities or facilities.

The railway is also part of the village’s history and serves as a point of reference. Vojtanov město station is on the Cheb–Vojtanov–Aš line. Historically, a railway connection between Cheb and the German town of Reichenbach contributed to Vojtanov’s development and to the construction of Nádražní čtvrť, a neighbourhood east of the original Vojtanov. Thus, alongside today’s named routes, the village’s changing development also comes into view.

If you are weighing up cycling, settlement history and nature for your trip, Voitersreuth offers distinct points of interest: the distance options for Route 2065, the clustered arrangement of farmsteads and the nature reserve within the village. The railway connections add another perspective on the village’s development.
