On the southwestern edge of the Slavkovský les lies Miltigau (Milíkov). The Cheb-style half-timbered farmstead, the Late Classicist church and the natural areas within the municipality offer different highlights for a stay. The farmstead focuses on rural living and working, while an easy walking trail leads to Milíkovská pískovna and onward to the ponds towards Těšov.

The half-timbered farmstead and its agricultural museum

The Cheb-style half-timbered farmstead is open to visitors, but only on a limited basis. Check the seasonal information before your visit. The agricultural museum displays rural interiors as well as household, craft and farming equipment. Smaller agricultural machines are also on display. The exhibits date from the second half of the 19th century to the present day.

The exhibition also traces the changing use of the farmstead: until 1945, it was an independent residential and agricultural unit; the expulsion of the original residents brought changes. It was later used as a home until the end of the resident’s life, and subsequently as a recreational property for the popular pastime of holidays in the countryside. The museum thus connects everyday objects with the history of the farm and its uses.

Church architecture and local history

The church “kostel sv. Šimona a Judy” adds a second architectural theme to the farmstead. It is a single-nave Late Classicist church with a square presbytery and a prismatic western tower. Its present appearance was shaped by alterations made between 1818 and 1820. The history of rural life and work and the architectural history of the church thus stand alongside one another as distinct cultural and historical highlights.

Protected areas and natural monument

Part of the municipality of Miltigau lies within the Slavkovský les Protected Landscape Area. This includes Zones II and III in forested areas and Zone IV in built-up areas. If you need to account for the protected-area zones in a specific plan, check the current official map. The Těšovské pastviny Natural Monument also comprises two areas within the municipality.

Walking trail, wetland and pond system

An easy walking trail, about 3 km long in total, leads from Miltigau to nearby Milíkovská pískovna and then to the ponds beyond the village towards Těšov. The route passes through a wetland. Check seasonal access and trail conditions before your visit.

Amphibians and reptiles are captured, explained and demonstrated in the Milíkovská pískovna pond system. Some demonstrations depend on specific events, so do not assume they are a permanent part of the programme. The walking trail and activities at the pond system offer a different focus from the village’s architectural and collection history.

Hiking and traditional events

The traditional hiking event “Kynšperská jarní patnáctka” follows a route to the Cheb-style half-timbered farmstead at No. 18 in Milíkov. If you would like to combine your visit with the event, check the dates in advance. For the 2026 season, the visitor programme for the traditional Milíkovské dožínky also included the chance to try old farming tasks for yourself. The annual programme may vary.

Getting there and choosing a holiday apartment

Miltigau is about 3 km from the main road between Cheb and Mariánské Lázně. Use this approximate distance as a guide when planning your journey. When choosing a holiday apartment, you can decide on a clear focus for your stay: the half-timbered farmstead and church for architectural and local history, or the walking trail and pond system for nature.
