In Kocbere, practical opportunities for hiking and cycling meet a rich village history. A yellow-marked hiking route passes through several named places; two cycling routes differ in length and difficulty. There are also historic chapels, a memorial stone and distinctive examples of village architecture. You can tailor your trip to outdoor activity or local history.

Comparing hiking and cycling routes

The yellow-marked hiking trail starts in Janská Studánka and leads via Nové Kocbeře, Liščí hora and Bělunka to Harcov; its description comes from a municipal study conducted in 2016. The route is 11 km long. As the start and finish are in different places, bear the return journey in mind when planning. Check the trail markings before setting out.

The cycling routes can be compared by their length and stated difficulty. Cycling Route No. 4087 runs from Stanovice to Pilníkov through the cadastral area of Kocbere; its description comes from a municipal study conducted in 2016. It is rated easy and is 29 km long. The moderately difficult Cycling Route No. 4117 runs from Heřmanice to Kocbeře, as far as U Partyzána, and covers 22 km; its description also comes from a municipal study conducted in 2016. This means there is a longer, easy route and a shorter, moderately difficult one. Check route conditions before setting out.

Chapels, a memorial stone and village architecture

One landmark in the history of the area is the chapel near Janská Studánka: it was built in 1671 and is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. There is also a chapel dedicated to Saint Florian in the centre of Kocbere. Another distinctive site is a surviving stone with a stag carved into it. Dating from 1726, it commemorates a count's hunt from the time of Count Špork.

The area's industrial past also shapes its appearance. The former textile factory complex in the north of Kocbere is now used as a factory producing plastic parts and has retained its historic appearance. The complex and its chimney are among the village's landmarks. Another example of architecture is the rural property at Kocbeře 115, a village house with a valuable gable design and surviving stone-built barns and cellars.

A military cemetery for victims of 1866 lies at the edge of the forest in the direction of Janská Studánka.

Janská Studánka and the landscape

A stream flows through Kocbere, with its sources in forest moorlands near Janská Studánka and on a wooded ridge north of the municipality. The stream, moorlands and wooded ridge are among the area's landscape features, alongside its chapels and industrially shaped village setting.

Janská Studánka developed into a much-visited pilgrimage site. In October 2024, the municipality of Kocbere acquired the complex to preserve this unique place and its rich history for future generations.
