The Štědrý stream flows through Tutleky; Hradisko, an Old Slavic promontory, lies above it. The local history here connects a specific landscape feature with several distinct historical traces. A large watchtower once stood on Hradisko, from which signals were sent using fire beacons when enemies invaded. There is also said to have once been a castle or fortress there.
The stream and Hradisko
The Štědrý stream flows through Tutleky and provides the geographical context for Hradisko: the promontory lies above the stream. This keeps the description of the landscape and the historical interpretation distinct without separating them from each other.
The former school building
The former school building in Tutleky tells another part of the village’s history. It was completed in 1880 and now serves as a clubhouse following renovation. Its history therefore includes two clearly different uses: first as a school, and later as a clubhouse. The year refers to the completion of the school building, not to its renovation or current use.
Local club sports are also connected with the building. TJ Sokol regularly uses the former school building for gymnastics. The activities also include volleyball on Mondays and Thursdays, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Historical traces in Dubí
In Dubí, the cross was restored in 1888, set into masonry and fitted with a small bell tower. Each detail tells part of the story of the cross’s design: in addition to its restoration, it was set into the masonry and the small tower was added. Five lime trees were planted around the bell tower.
Another landmark in Dubí is the statue of Saint John. Together with the cross, it offers a different perspective on local history than Hradisko: here, the focus is on specific religious monuments and their architectural details, while there it is on the promontory’s location, the former watchtower and the castle or fortress that is only believed to have stood there. This distinction helps prevent the different historical themes of Tutleky and Dubí from being blended into a single story.
Annual event and club life
Alongside its permanent historical traces, a competition held every year is also part of local life: Tutleky hosts a night fire-fighting competition for the Mayor’s Cup. In 2026, it was held for the 29th time.
These themes complement one another without telling the same story: the stream and Hradisko provide a landscape context, the former school building shows how the building’s use has changed, and the cross and statue draw attention to religious traces in Dubí. The competition and club activities represent recurring local events. Depending on whether you are more interested in historical interpretations, architectural details or present-day club life, Tutleky offers different starting points for planning your trip.
