Třebešov brings together architectural and historical landmarks with a traditional sporting event. The village chapel, Kaple sv. Václava, monuments and faint traces of the former fortress each offer a different perspective; the Matrix Cup adds a recurring seasonal event. When planning your trip, it is worth distinguishing between a stay focused on local history and a visit centred on the tournament.

Chapel, Monuments and Fire Brigade Mini-Museum

Kaple sv. Václava is a village chapel with eclectic architecture. The older chapel was built in 1835. The term “eclectic” refers to architecture that combines design elements from different styles. This makes the building’s style a distinct cultural and historical aspect to consider alongside its year of construction.

The Urnfield monument in Třebešov dates from 1911. Another memorial is the monument to the legionaries, located on the outskirts of the village in the direction of Černíkovice. There is a glass-fronted fire brigade mini-museum on the village square. One of the objects on display there is a fire engine pump. The chapel, monuments and mini-museum thus represent different themes: architecture, remembrance and the fire brigade. If you plan to visit the mini-museum, check in advance whether visits are possible.

The Former Fortress and Its Traces

The former fortress of Třebešov was demolished in 1978. Only faint traces in the terrain remain at its former site. According to the owners, numerous finds of tiles and ceramics have also been discovered. The historical significance of the site is therefore different from that of the chapel: only slight features in the terrain remain of the fortress, while the finds are cited as additional evidence of its former location.

The dates mark different events: the older chapel was built in 1835, the Urnfield monument dates from 1911, and the fortress was demolished in 1978. This timeline helps distinguish the chapel’s building history, the monument and the former fortress site.

Matrix Cup: An Event with Its Own Date

The Matrix Cup is a traditional small-sided football tournament in Třebešov. It takes place on the last Saturday of the summer holidays. The tournament celebrated its 25th anniversary. The 26th Matrix Cup was announced for 2023.

If you would like to combine your trip with the tournament, check the specific date for the year in question. This helps distinguish a visit to the event from a stay focused on the chapel, monuments or traces of the fortress. The historical sites and the football event appeal to different interests and lead to different considerations when choosing when to travel.

Getting Around and Finding Accommodation

Roads III/3211, towards Rychnov nad Kněžnou, and III/30211, towards Černíkovice, run through Třebešov. You will also see the direction of Černíkovice mentioned in connection with the legionaries’ monument on the outskirts of the village. Together, the road numbers and place names provide specific directional references to help you find your way.

When looking for a holiday apartment, you can first decide which purpose will shape your stay. If your focus is cultural and historical, the chapel, monuments and former fortress are the main points of interest; for a trip to the Matrix Cup, the event date determines the right period. If you are planning for a future year, check the date in advance.
