Rampuse brings together historic chapels and local figures with a red-marked hiking trail that passes through the village. The municipality lies in a hillside valley crossed by a stream in the Podorlická Uplands. Visitors can focus on different aspects: architectural and local history, regional legendary figures, or a hike from Zdobnická Seč onward to Liberk. In summer, activities centred on farm life are also available.

Chapels and Historical Landmarks

The first mention of Rampuse dates back to 1544. Two chapels provide specific points of reference for the village’s history, but differ in name, style and location. The smaller Baroque Chapel of Our Lady of the Snows dates from 1745 and stands by the Rampuse bus stop. The Neo-Gothic Chapel of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary was consecrated in 1868 and is located near house No. 16. These are two distinct chapels, each with its own historical significance: one is Baroque and dates from the 18th century, while the other is Neo-Gothic and was consecrated in 1868.

Near the chapel consecrated in 1868 stands a memorial erected in 1921 to commemorate those who fell in the First World War. The chapel and memorial bring architectural history and remembrance together at a clearly identifiable spot. Beyond the individual buildings, the landscape is also part of the village’s character: a stream flows through the hillside valley in the Podorlická Uplands.

Figures, Local History and Literature

Above the pond stands a statue of Rampepurda, created by academic sculptor Michal Moravec from Hořice. Another local figure is Rampušák, whose statue is made of wood. He is depicted as the patron and protector of the Orlické Mountains. The two figures offer different cultural connections: Rampepurda is rooted in a specific place above the pond, while Rampušák is linked to the region’s world of legends.

A literary connection to the village leads to Kristýna, known as Rampepurda. She was born in Rampuse and lived there; she is also associated with the character in Karel Poláček’s novel “Bylo nás pět.” This connection adds a personal and literary perspective on Rampuse to the statues. Those interested in local history will find, alongside the buildings, a link between a resident of the village and a well-known literary character.

Hiking and Seasonal Farm Activities

The red-marked hiking trail passes through Rampuse from Zdobnická Seč onward to Liberk. This makes the village easy to include in a hiking itinerary. The places named indicate the direction and course of the route; check the trail markers on site if you plan to follow it.

Farmářův dvoreček at Sokolí hnízdo operates only during the summer months. Children can meet farm animals there and learn about life on a farm. If this activity is important to your trip, take its seasonal opening period into account when planning. Visitors can also sample products from Farma SOKOL at Sokolí hnízdo, including sausages and yoghurt. This opportunity may depend on the farm’s operations. The two farm activities therefore have different conditions: Farmářův dvoreček is limited to the summer months, while product tastings may depend on on-site operations.
