Byzhradec offers an excellent view of the entire ridge of the Orlické hory; in good visibility, it also extends to the ridges of the Krkonoše. Other features include a chapel dating from 1869, a historic settlement structure and cycling connections with named routes. Anyone looking for a holiday apartment in Byzhradec can use these highlights as a guide when choosing a destination.
Views and Landscape Features
The artificial water reservoir lies in the centre of the built-up area. The Chobot stream is a defining feature of the landscape and is designated as a landscape asset to be protected. This brings two distinct aspects of the village into focus: an artificial feature within the built-up area and a stream whose landscape function should be preserved. Together with the distant views, these features broaden the picture of Byzhradec beyond individual buildings.
Historic Settlement and Buildings
The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius dates from 1869. In addition to this individual building, the village’s historic layout also shapes its cultural character: Byzhradec preserves a settlement structure of the type known as a lánová ves. The term refers to a particular form of settlement and draws attention to the village as a whole.
A podstávkový dům stands in the northern part of Byzhradec and is designated as a building of local cultural and historical value. The former school building was recently renovated and now serves as the municipal office and library. Its former use as a school and its present-day uses belong to different chapters in the village’s history.
Northeast of Byzhradec, a stone cross stands beside road III/29844 on parcel p.p.č. 3278. The former production of wooden shingles is also part of the village’s history, adding a craft-related aspect to its buildings.
