In the center of Roudnice, expansive lawns and well-maintained green spaces shape the townscape; the RoudnickĂ˝ potok flows through the center. Expansive bodies of water lie on the western edge of town, offering opportunities for fishing all year round. To help you get your bearings, note the difference in location: the stream and green spaces shape the center, while the bodies of water associated with fishing lie on the western edge.

Leisure Spots in the Townscape

The municipal leisure spots offer different attractions. The V Lesejčku area includes a natural amphitheater and a multi-purpose sports court with an artificial surface. The Na starém hřišti sports complex is located in the center; it has modern facilities for competitive firefighting sports and other sporting activities. The named attractions differ in specific ways: V Lesejčku combines an amphitheater and a multi-purpose sports court, while Na starém hřišti offers sports facilities, including those for competitive firefighting sports. The locations also help distinguish the leisure spots: the sports complex is in the center, while the bodies of water mentioned for fishing are on the western edge of town. The KČT cycling route 4199 runs at an elevation of between 230 and 240 meters above sea level.

Cultural Calendar and Commemorative Days

The social calendar in Roudnice begins with Epiphany caroling and the ball season. Cultural events take place at the Přírodní divadlo in summer. Commemorations are held at the war memorial every year on May 5 and October 28, with flowers laid there. The memorial was unveiled on September 11, 1921. The unveiling marks a historical date; the laying of flowers is a recurring annual part of the commemorations. In this way, the start of the year, the summer program and two precisely specified commemorative days come together. If you would like to plan your trip around a particular summer event, check the event date in advance. For your travel dates, it is also helpful to distinguish between the summer cultural program and the year-round fishing opportunities at the western bodies of water. The commemorative days fall in spring and autumn.

Traces of Local History

The first written mention of Roudnice dates from 1384. The medieval and early modern town center is designated an archaeological area in category ÚAN I; this classification covers areas with confirmed or reasonably suspected archaeological finds. A remnant of the former fortress is an inconspicuous change in the terrain north of the road and west of the agricultural complex. This change in the terrain marks a single fortress remnant, whereas ÚAN I designates the archaeological town center as an area. The former Půlpánův sklípek was used to cool milk. In 2017, the roof of the cemetery chapel, including its tower, was completely reconstructed. The dates therefore refer to different events: 1384 to the first written mention, 1921 to the unveiling of the war memorial and 2017 to the reconstruction of the chapel roof.
