Lejšovka offers several different starting points for exploration: historic monuments stand in the village centre, a network of cycle routes runs through the surrounding area, and the Violky wet meadow is home to a remarkable plant species. Fishing competitions are regularly held at Náveský rybník, with a sports area beside it. When looking for a holiday apartment, you can first decide whether local history, nature or activity will be the focus of your stay.

Local History and Historic Buildings

In the centre of Lejšovka is a protected ensemble consisting of a stone bell and a cast-iron cross on a stone base. A wooden bell tower stands in the village square, with a sandstone cross dating from 1882 right beside it. A cast-iron cross on a stone base, worthy of monument status, stands opposite a pond. Buildings and sites are also part of the village’s historic character: the former school is classified as a building of local historical or local architectural value, and the cemetery complex is considered an area of local historical or local architectural value. The former classroom is used for cultural purposes; aerobics and table tennis are also held there.

At the southern edge of the cadastral area of Lejšovka, in Kalthouz Forest, are the remains of a historic water castle. It may date from the second half of the 13th century. The village’s history is thus represented by different landmarks: monuments and buildings in the village, as well as the remains in the forest.

A Natural Highlight and an August Event

The Violky wet meadow in the Kaltouz Biocentre is home to the endangered tall violet, Viola elatior. In East Bohemia, it grows in only one other location besides this site. Its limited distribution makes it a distinctive botanical highlight for nature enthusiasts. The Kaltouz Biocentre and the Violky wet meadow are associated with Lejšovka, Smržov and Libřice.

An annual event is the small-sided football tournament “O posvícenský tuplák”: it takes place on the last Saturday in August every year. If you would like to plan your stay around this event, check the exact date before making plans.

Cycle Routes, Pond and Getting There

A network of cycle routes runs through the area around Lejšovka. Cycle Route 4166 passes through Lejšovka; check the current signage before setting off. When choosing a route, note the distinction: the network covers the surrounding area, while Route 4166 specifically passes through the municipality.

The local fishing association regularly holds fishing competitions at Náveský rybník. Right beside the pond is a sports area with sand courts for tennis, volleyball and nohejbal (a Czech ball game); it also includes a small-sided football pitch. Lejšovka has bus connections to Hradec Králové and Jaroměř and lies away from the main transport corridors. For your specific journey, check the connections for your travel date; the destinations listed alone are no substitute for checking the timetable.
