When planning a visit to Třtice, you can focus on local history, the landscape, a cycling route or event dates. The Church of St. Nicholas offers a tangible connection to the history of the village; Bucek Pond and the V Bahnách Nature Reserve each offer a different focus on nature. Those interested in exercise can also find information about a longer cycling route and recurring sporting events.

Local History and the Church of St. Nicholas

Třtice was already inhabited in the Stone Age; the first written references date from the 14th century. In the centre of the village, the Church of St. Nicholas stands on a slight rise. A resident parish priest is documented there as early as the 13th century. The history of the ecclesiastical institution therefore goes further back than the first written references to the village.

The originally Gothic church was rebuilt in Baroque style after a fire in the second quarter of the 18th century. Its construction history therefore includes several clearly distinct phases: its Gothic beginnings, the fire and the later rebuilding. The single-nave building has a nave 11 metres long and 8 metres wide, topped by a barrel vault. A barrel vault is a curved ceiling that runs lengthwise. For culturally minded travellers, this is a chance to consider local history alongside a specific architectural form.

Bucek Pond and Protected Nature

Bucek Pond lies within the cadastral area of Třtice and covers 24.5 hectares. Two protected pedunculate oaks, more than 400 years old, help stabilise the pond’s embankment with their roots. The pond and the old trees form a distinctive landscape feature, while the V Bahnách Nature Reserve offers a different focus, with protected habitats and species.

V Bahnách protects aquatic, wetland and meadow plant communities, as well as animal communities found on peat and moorland. Protected species there include the round-leaved sundew and the common butterwort. Nature lovers can thus choose between a large pond with striking old trees and a protected area with rare species and distinctive habitats.

Cycling Route and Events

The 21-kilometre-long cycling route No. 8192, “Novostrašecko,” passes through the cadastral areas of Řevničov, Třtice, Mšec, Mšecké Žehrovice and Nové Strašecí. It runs over dams and along the banks of the Třtický, Bucký, Malá Punčocha, Velká Punčocha, Mlýnský, Pilský, Červený and Lodenický ponds. The route therefore offers a distinct way to plan a visit, separate from a focus on local history. Check the signage and route conditions before setting out.

The Bucek Triathlon takes place every year on a Saturday around the turn of July and August and is open to everyone. The date and format may change, so check the details for the relevant edition before planning a trip around the event. The “Vánoční běh” winter run regularly takes place on 26 December. The two sporting events mentioned therefore fall at very different times of year and may each provide a reason to visit, depending on when you travel.

Stay at Chatkový kemp Bucek

Chatkový kemp Bucek offers ten cabins, each with a capacity of three people, as well as pitches for your own tents, caravans and motorhomes. Cabins and pitches for your own camping equipment are therefore listed as distinct accommodation options. If you are considering staying at the site, check current availability and terms in advance, as visitor facilities may change.
