Solopisky can be explored from three perspectives: as a place in the Ĺ varcava Valley, with an older village centre shaped by farming, and as a destination on a red-marked hiking trail. The trail comes from Vonoklasy and continues from Solopisky towards RadotĂn and Zbraslav. When choosing your destination, consider whether local history, the river landscape or a hiking connection is most important to you.
River Valley and Older Village Centre
Solopisky lies in the Švarcava Valley, beside a short, unnamed tributary on its left bank. The older part of the village is near the confluence and above the Švarcava’s right bank; a through road runs there. The watercourse and the road provide distinct points of reference for the village. This location distinguishes the valley area from the position of the older part of the village by the river.
The older part consists of single-storey farmsteads arranged lengthwise. “Single-storey” describes a building with just one storey; “arranged lengthwise” refers to the farmsteads’ elongated orientation. The historic character of the settlement is reflected not only in its position by the river but also in the recurring form of its farmsteads. This offers a different perspective on Solopisky from the hiking route: here, the focus is on building form and settlement structure.
Historical Milestones
Solopisky was first mentioned in 1305. Zbraslav Monastery acquired the village in 1630. Even after the monastery was dissolved in 1785, Solopisky remained part of the Zbraslav estate until the end of serfdom. The dates mark distinct milestones: 1305 is the first mention, 1630 the monastery’s acquisition of the village, and 1785 its dissolution. The village’s affiliation with the estate continued beyond that. The first mention is therefore not automatically a founding date, and the monastery’s dissolution should not be equated with the end of the village’s affiliation with the estate.
Hiking to and through Solopisky
The red-marked hiking trail runs from Vonoklasy to Solopisky and continues from there towards RadotĂn and Zbraslav. Solopisky can therefore be the destination of the stretch from Vonoklasy or a stop along the route that follows. This makes a practical difference to your day’s plans: you can end your hike in the village or include the onward route in your plans. Check the current trail markings before setting out, as they can change.
Protected Status of Solopisky
Solopisky lies in Zone II of the Český kras Protected Landscape Area. This protected-area zoning is a distinct aspect of the village’s description, alongside its river setting, agricultural settlement form and history.
Kulivá hora: Amphibians and Habitats
Seven amphibian species live in Kulivá hora, including the fire salamander and the agile frog. Along the Švarcava stream, a narrow mosaic strip of ash-alder floodplain forests and riverside vegetation extends through the area. The Kulivá hora protected area also includes calcareous scree slopes of hill country and the montane zone, ravine and slope forests of the Tilio-Acerion alliance, Pannonian downy oak woods, Pannonian rocky grasslands, and oak-hornbeam forests of the Galio-Carpinetum association. The species listed describe the wildlife; the habitats mentioned encompass different types of forest, riverbank and open land.
