Řevnice brings together local history, culture and opportunities to spend time outdoors. The funnel-shaped square, Hradiště Na Pišťáku, BIO Řevnice and summer activities on the Berounka reveal different sides of the town. When planning your trip, you can decide whether to focus on historical sites, hiking, cinema or water sports.
Getting there and routes
Řevnice is on the Prague–Beroun railway line. If you are considering this connection for your journey, check the timetable for your travel date. One specific hiking option is the 11-kilometre Fabiánova Nature Trail circular route. It starts and ends at náměstí Krále Jiřího z Poděbrad. As signage or trail conditions may change, it is advisable to check the route again before setting out.
Another hiking route leads from Řevnice to Na Babku; its route details may change if signage or access is adjusted. Unlike the circular route, this one focuses on Na Babku as its destination, while the Fabiánova Nature Trail is described as returning to the starting point. Lesní divadlo can be reached via a forest hiking trail.
Local history and archaeological traces
The square in Řevnice is funnel-shaped and is considered the work of a High Medieval settlement, probably founded before 1292. The shape of the square offers a tangible connection to local history and points to the layout of this older settlement. The Church of St. Maurice and the Assumption of Mary lies northeast, beyond the square.
Hradiště Na Pišťáku is designated as a significant archaeological site in Řevnice. It lies on a steep rocky spur, also called Malá Babka. The fortified site consists of two to three arc-shaped ramparts, with ditches dug in front of them. Details of its location and fortifications add an archaeological focus to the picture offered by the square and church.
Cinema, festival and the Berounka
BIO Řevnice has offered a regular, extensive film programme since 2007. If you are planning to go to the cinema, include the current programme in your plans. Alongside the historical sites and hiking trails, this also makes the regular cultural programme a potential reason for your visit.
The Pivní festival Řevnice has been held at least eight times; its ninth edition was announced for 23 May 2026 in the town square. One edition was announced to feature 13 breweries, a selection of refreshments and music. Dates and programmes vary by edition. If you would like to combine your stay with the festival, check the dates for the relevant edition.
In summer, the Berounka near Řevnice is used for water sports such as swimming and canoeing. For travellers who want to focus on these activities, the season is an important factor when choosing when to travel. The river offers a different focus from the historical sites or film programme, adding an explicitly seasonal outdoor activity to the options.
