The 17 km “Za pány z Valdeka” route starts and ends in Chaloupky. Also nearby are the Záskalská Reservoir, which borders the village, hiking trails in the Brdy region, and viewpoints at Jindřichova skála and near the ruins of Valdek Castle. Your planned activities may determine your choice of holiday apartment: Would you like to start a circular route in Chaloupky, plan water activities, or visit destinations in the surrounding area?
By the Water and in the Brdy Region
The Záskalská Reservoir borders Chaloupky and also serves as a fire-fighting water reservoir. Swimming and sport fishing are possible leisure activities there. The reservoir therefore has significance for activities by the water as well as a practical function. The rock formations in the Brdy region offer a different focus: here, the rocks and views take centre stage. When planning your days, you can take these different interests into account when choosing excursions.
Jindřichova skála, a natural monument in the Brdy region, is close to Chaloupky. Its rock face reaches a height of up to 21 metres. A marked hiking trail leads from Malá Víska to a viewpoint at Jindřichova skála; from there, you can see the ruins of Valdek Castle. The 17 km “Za pány z Valdeka” route, which starts and ends in Chaloupky, is a different option. The starting points define the practical difference between the two hikes: Chaloupky for the circular route, and Malá Víska for the trail to the viewpoint.
Views and Destinations in the Surrounding Area
From the ruins of Valdek Castle and the vast boulder field below, the view opens out over the deep valley of the Červený potok and towards the opposite rock faces of Jindřichova skála. Parking for visits to the castle ruins is available in Neřežín. The views of the valley and rock faces, and a visit to the ruins, can therefore be considered separate aspects of an excursion.
Walks in the Brdy region are among the leisure activities associated with Chaloupky. In autumn, the surrounding forests are used for mushroom picking. Cross-country skiing and other winter sports are practised in the area in winter. Autumn and winter therefore offer different seasonal highlights: forests and mushroom picking on the one hand, and cross-country skiing and winter sports on the other. Chaloupecká stopa is a local tourism event held every year. Stezka okolo Komárova is also among the excursion routes associated with Chaloupky.
Local History and Building Style
The first written mention of Chaloupky dates from 1648. The settlement was then called “Chalupy za Skalou”; this name and the names of the first residents are recorded in the tax register compiled between 1648 and 1656. In the Neřežín district, there are four particularly valuable timbered houses. Alongside excursions into the countryside, local history and a specific building style are therefore also themes to explore during your stay.
