Přestavlky U Čerčan brings together several different reasons to visit: the annual Dožínková harvest celebrations, two chapels with documented construction histories, Stará Dubá, which is associated with the village, and a long municipal walking route. You can focus on an event date, the history of buildings and settlements, or getting out into the landscape. Different factors matter when planning: the date of the celebration, as well as the route length and local conditions for walking.

Dožínková harvest celebrations as a date to plan around

The Dožínková harvest celebrations are held annually by Přestavlky U Čerčan, Vranov, Agro Přestavlky a.s., and the municipalities of Přestavlky and Vranov. If the harvest celebrations are a deciding factor in your travel plans, check the specific event date in advance. This lets you plan your stay around a recurring cultural event without assuming a particular day for the festivities.

Chapels with comparable timelines

The chapel in Přestavlky was built in 1899 and restored in 2002 and 2014. The chapel in Čistec dates from 1897 and was restored in 1999 and 2016. This makes the chapel in Čistec two years older than the one in Přestavlky; the most recent restorations are also two years apart, but in reverse order: 2014 in Přestavlky and 2016 in Čistec. Comparing them separates the construction dates from the later restorations and makes the two timelines easy to compare.

Stará Dubá: castle and traces of settlement

Stará Dubá, associated with Přestavlky U Čerčan, is a protected cultural monument featuring castle ruins and archaeological traces. A member of the Benešoviců noble family founded the castle in the 13th century. Its ruins stand on a wooded, rocky promontory above the left bank of the Sázava, opposite the village of Poddubí. Below the castle lay the fortified settlement of Odranec; the castle gate still stands today. The history can thus be read as a sequence: from the castle’s founding to the settlement below it and the surviving castle gate. Unlike the chapels, the setting by the river and the archaeological traces also shape the picture here, alongside the history.

Walking and community life

The municipal walk “Procházka kolem naší obce” is a 21 km route around Přestavlky U Čerčan that passes through all five neighboring parts of the municipality. Its length makes it a standalone outing rather than a short stop along the way. Set aside enough time and check local conditions before walking.

Carp Club Přestavlky 2009 encourages young people to take an interest in nature and fishing. It organizes fishing competitions, children’s events and social events for the public. The club’s activities therefore extend beyond fishing to include various kinds of events. If you want to plan your trip around a particular event, check its date separately.

A precisely dated memorial history in Vepří

The First World War memorial to the fallen in Vepří also has a precisely dated history. It was erected on September 5, 1920, relocated in 1969, and formally unveiled again with a new plaque on July 6, 1969. The dates mark different stages: 1920 is the year it was erected, while 1969 marks both its relocation and its re-unveiling. This clearly distinguishes the original erection from the later events.
