Trpanj can be explored through specific coastal landmarks. Luka Beach is at the eastern entrance to Trpanj, in the bay of the same name. The paved waterfront promenade ends above Blace Bay, known for its healing mud deposits. This places a named beach and a bay with its own distinctive natural feature side by side as different points of reference along the coast.
Beaches around Trpanj
Pozora is a pebble beach near the “Faraon” Hotel, with natural shade and shallow water; the beach is suitable for children. There is a beach bar, where visitors can rent leisure equipment. Rental availability may vary by season.
Divna is 10 km from Trpanj, in the direction of Duba. The beach has a sand-and-pebble shore; the water is shallow and suitable for children. Compared with Pozora, a pebble beach with natural shade, the shoreline surface is the clear difference. Shallow water and suitability for children are features the two beach options have in common. When comparing them, you can therefore consider other beach features alongside the shore surface.
Landscape and trails
Nearby, the Lozica mountain trail starts 3 km east of Trpanj, in the direction of Orebić. It passes through varied vegetation, by a spring with flowing water and by sand dunes. The trail thus brings together several elements of the landscape: plant life, water and dunes. Those looking beyond beaches to a route through the landscape will find a different focus here.
Duba and Divna can also be distinguished by their different points of reference: Divna is 10 km from Trpanj, in the direction of Duba; Duba itself is a small fishing village 13 km away. There is a pebble beach at its harbour. Vučina Bay is another landscape landmark near Trpanj. It was designated a significant landscape in 1975.
Local history and food
The history of Trpanj also includes the language of trade: its inhabitants were among the first to retain the use of Croatian in commercial correspondence. This historical trace draws attention to language as part of commercial life.
The “Okusi Pelješca” food event was held on Thursday evenings during the summer months at the Riva in Trpanj, as well as in Gornja Vrućica and Duba Pelješka. The multiple venues and seasonal schedule give the culinary theme a specific local setting. Before your trip, check whether current event dates have been announced for your preferred travel period.
