Yuci County Office reveals another side of the area’s history: it dates from the Song dynasty, is relatively well preserved and comprises five halls and 26 courtyards. Confucius Temple is one of Yuci’s oldest surviving building complexes and is also protected cultural heritage. It covers a total area of 23,000 square metres, of which 6,000 square metres are building area. Fengming Academy was Yuci County’s school during the Qing dynasty and was regarded as its highest educational institution; it covers 27,000 square metres. Loess Hills and Nature

The historic village of Hougou is located in Dongzhao Township, Yuci District, in a landscape shaped by loess hills. Wujinshan National Forest Park in Yuci District offers a different natural setting: it is densely forested, has clear air and is used as a weekend retreat. A Spring Festival programme in Yuci Old Town features lion and dragon dances, acrobatics, Shehuo parades and fireworks. Another cultural experience combines craftsmanship and food: an official intangible cultural heritage route in Jinzhong includes the traditional making of Yuci Hua Mo.
