In Lins, cultural landmarks, religious architecture and nature activities stand side by side as different facets of the city. If you would like to explore more than just one theme during your stay, you will find connections to Buddhist and Christian history, in museums and along ecological trails. For planning purposes, it helps to distinguish between what you would like to do: admire architecture, learn more about the city’s history or set aside time for Horto Florestal. The following places and themes provide practical guidance.

Temples, traditions and religious architecture

The Cidade Miniatura do Seo Mario is part of Lins’s historical memory. The Templo Budista Taissenji Homom Butsuryushi do Brasil is the spiritual mother temple of the other temples of this religion in Brazil. Together, these represent two distinct cultural points of reference: a place of historical memory and a temple with special significance for Buddhism in Brazil.

The Templo Budista also hosts the In Nippon Fest, held in November with musical performances and a food area featuring typical dishes. Here, the religious and cultural theme comes together with an event program. If the festival is relevant to your travel plans, check the dates for your intended visit.

The Catedral de Santo Antônio showcases Gothic architecture with pointed arches. Visits focused on the religious art and history of the church are available by prior appointment and accompanied by a priest. So don’t plan this as a spontaneous walk-through; arrange your visit in advance. The Igreja Ortodoxa Grega Aya Tsambica offers a different historical perspective: it was the first temple built outside Greece in honor of Aya Tsambika. The two churches thus represent different religious traditions and offer distinct architectural and historical points of interest.

City history and collections

The Museu Histórico e Arqueológico de Lins is located in the old station of the Estrada de Ferro Noroeste do Brasil, the city’s place of origin. The museum’s location and its former function are closely linked: the station is not only the building that houses the museum, but is also identified as the origin of Lins. Those interested in the city’s history will find a tangible connection between place and past here.

The collection of the Museu Nissui Ibaragui offers another perspective. It includes objects, documents and photographs related to the founder, the temple, Buddhism and the daily lives of worshippers. The different materials focus both on an individual and on religious practice and everyday life. The Igreja São José Operário de Lins, meanwhile, displays twelve hand-crafted cement relief panels created by Cesário Ceperó and Pedro Perozzi. The material, technique and named artists give this art collection a clearly defined focus.

Ecological trails and thermal water

Horto Florestal de Lins has two ecological trails: one takes 40 minutes and the other 30 minutes. The stated times differ by ten minutes, helping you factor the time required into your plans. Horto also includes the Jardim das Borboletas. Its flowering plants serve as a source of food and an attraction for much of the year. The trails thus complement a place where the role of flowering plants is also part of the nature experience.

Thermal water is another feature: hot water from the Fonte de Fátima supplies the pools at Blue Tree Park Lins. So, alongside religious architecture, city history and ecological trails, Lins also has a thermal-water offering. You can decide which of these facets to focus on based on your interests and the time you have available.
