Plan your visit to Itirapina around three main themes: local history in the town center, the trails and reservoir at Fazendinha, and outdoor and water-based destinations across the municipality.

Local History and Culture in the Town Center

Casa Guariento is a cultural space. It currently houses the municipal departments of Culture, Tourism and the Environment, as well as the “Professor José Porfírio” Municipal Library. Itirapina railway station was built in 1916 to replace the town’s first station and is now closed. Together, these places tell different stories of town life—from cultural activities to railway history.

The bandstand in Praça Central was designed in 1931 to host musical groups during local celebrations. The Igreja Matriz de Santo Antônio was built in the second half of the 20th century in honor of the town’s patron saint. An annual event is the Festa da Padroeira Nossa Senhora da Conceição, held on December 8; it includes a fair and an auction. Check the specific festival program for your travel year.

Trails and Scenery at Fazendinha

Fazendinha offers several different reasons to visit: there is an approximately 2.5-kilometer health trail and trails for environmental education. Visitors can also view the reservoir there. The stated distance gives a clear guide to the health trail, while the environmental education trails have a different thematic focus.

The Caminho da Paz is on a different scale: this 360-kilometer pilgrimage and cycling route links twelve neighboring municipalities via dirt roads and some paved sections. It has a support point in Itirapina. This makes the regional route quite different from a single trail at Fazendinha. As local support services may change, check on them before setting out.

Outdoor Activities and Water Destinations Across the Municipality

In the municipality of Itirapina, Balneário Santo Antônio “Broa” has a three-kilometer beach and a waterfront promenade. Possible activities there include swimming, fishing and water sports; check swimming conditions separately before your trip. People fly kites, climb and mountain bike at Morro do Fogão. Providers and conditions for these activities may vary, so it is worth checking in advance.

Lago de Ubá has a natural shower and a small waterfall. Cachoeira Saltão is a 75-meter-high waterfall with access trails. Access conditions and fees at Saltão may change, so factor this into your plans. The destinations described thus range from a waterfront promenade and water activities to waterfalls and sports, each with a different focus.

Local Products and Getting There

The Feira dos Artistas, Artesãos e Produtores Rurais takes place on the second Saturday of each month and during events in Praça Central. It provides an opportunity to sell and promote local crafts, art, food and agricultural products. Before you travel, check whether an event falls within your travel dates.

If you are traveling from São Paulo, the road route follows the SP-348 (Rodovia dos Bandeirantes) to exit 168, then the SP-310 (Rodovia Washington Luís) to exit 206-B, and finally the SP-225 (Rodovia Paulo Nilo Romano) to exit 97. Road conditions and signage may change; check the current route before driving.
