Hikes, waterfalls, and river trips
Rio Verde De Mato Grosso offers a variety of reasons to visit: walks and hikes, horseback rides, waterfalls, river trips through rapids, and handicrafts. When looking for a hotel, it can help to first decide what you want to focus on: nature on foot, activities on the water, or production and crafts.
At Fazenda Igrejinha, walks are offered amid the local flora and fauna. The fazenda also includes an archaeological site. This brings together a nature experience and an archaeological connection at one named location. At Fazenda Várzea Alegre, you can hike along trails and go horseback riding. The difference between these two activities also lies in how you get around—on foot along trails or on horseback. This is a clear point of reference when comparing hiking and horseback riding options.
Cachoeira das Sete Quedas is one of Rio Verde De Mato Grosso’s tourist attractions. Fazenda Várzea Alegre also includes two waterfalls, Cachoeira Várzea Alegre and Cachoeira Ovo Negro, as well as Gruta do Cateto. Waterfalls and a cave offer different highlights within the nature theme. If you are mainly interested in natural attractions when planning your trip, these named places give you specific points of reference for making your choices.
River trips on different routes
On the Passeio de Duck, you travel through the rapids of the Rio Taquari Mirim along a 6 km route. The Passeio de Acqua Ride takes you through the rapids of the Rio Verde along a 1.8 km route. The river names and route lengths make the two trips easy to distinguish: the Duck route is the longer of the two routes with stated distances, and the trips take place on different rivers. This lets you consider the distance and river when choosing an activity without treating the routes as the same. Acqua Ride trips are also available at Balneário do Meca and Balneário Quedas D’Água.
Crafts and production
At Indústrias Cerâmicas e Artesanato de Argila, visitors can take a tour showing how clay bricks and roof tiles are made. The focus is on the production process and these two clay products. Handicrafts also have a place here: Fábrica de Chapéus Karandá keeps the craft of making the chapéu pantaneiro alive. These are two different craft topics—the clay production on display and the making of the chapéu pantaneiro. They complement the range of nature and water activities with another focus for your trip.
Getting there and finding your way around
From Campo Grande, you can reach Rio Verde De Mato Grosso in about three to four hours by rental car, private transfer, or scheduled bus. The travel time is explicitly approximate; the listed transport options provide an initial guide for planning your journey. A state tourism report from 2018 described the Balneário area as being accessed via the MS-437 and noted a 7.8 km restored section with a bike path. This places the road and bike-path infrastructure information in its historical context.
