Faletići brings together a historic necropolis, connections to water and a culinary tradition. Different aspects are of interest when planning a trip: the national monument with Stećci and Nišani, the protected course of the Mošćanica and the preparation of the Bosnian sweet Ćetenija.

Cultural heritage in Faletići and Sarajevo

Faletići is home to a historic necropolis with Stećci and Nišani, which has been declared a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The monument includes 57 Stećci and 22 Nišani. A Nišan from the Faletići site is also on display in the permanent exhibition at the Brusa bezistan in Sarajevo. The necropolis at its place of origin and a single object in a museum display thus represent two distinct cultural points of reference. The figures describe the monument’s collection, while the exhibition in Sarajevo displays a Nišan from this site.

Mošćanica: water resource and access

The section of the open course of the Mošćanica that is considered a water resource extends from the source to the Faletići water intake. At the same time, the Mošćanica continues to be protected under applicable federal and cantonal water-protection regulations. When orienting yourself around the water, it is important to distinguish between the open course and the Vrelo area: in March 2024, Vrelo Mošćanice was accessible via Faletići, but the Vrelo area itself was fenced off as a water-protection zone and was not accessible to ordinary visitors. Access via Faletići therefore did not mean entry to the fenced-off protected area. If you would like to include this area in your plans, check local access conditions before your trip.

Ćetenija and the watermill

Ćetenija is a traditional Bosnian sweet, usually served with coffee. In Faletići, it was prepared for several years on the first Saturday in February. If you would like to plan a trip around its preparation, check the specific date for your travel year in advance; the date, not just the month, matters when planning.

A watermill opened in the Faletići neighbourhood in February 2022. A watermill at the Vrelo restaurant resumed operation in March 2024. Offerings for restaurant guests included homemade products made from flour traditionally milled at the mill. If you would like to include the mill or these products in your plans, enquire in advance about current operations and the present offering. This makes it possible to incorporate the culinary connection into your travel plans without assuming a particular visit itinerary.

Plan your accommodation in Faletići

The Dom Faletići accommodation and dining complex is a specific option to consider when planning an overnight stay in the area. A description dated 22 July 2021 mentions mountain trails, sports facilities, a wellness and fitness area, and walking and cross-country running opportunities in a pine forest park. When searching for holiday apartments, you can also tailor your choice to the focus of your trip: the necropolis, the water-related sites or a date connected with Ćetenija. If you stay at Dom Faletići, check separately whether the facilities mentioned are available if they matter to your decision.
