A lookout tower with panoramic views across the Innviertel and the Bavarian Forest is part of the Treetop Walk in Kopfing Im Innkreis. Nearby, you’ll find hikes of various lengths and cultural sites with distinct themes. This means you can focus your stay on nature, outdoor activities or cultural and historical discoveries.
Treetop Walk and High Ropes Course
The Treetop Walk is around 1,000 m long and has a lookout tower. From there, panoramic views stretch across the Innviertel and the Bavarian Forest. If you’d rather focus on an active challenge, the high ropes course features wobbly bridges, suspended beams and elevated platforms. The views and climbing elements offer different experiences to plan your outing around.
Hikes with different highlights
The “Blick ins Land” circular trail is 16 km long and takes around 4 to 5 hours to walk. This makes it easy to plan into your day with a specific time frame in mind. The Bründlweg is shorter at 12.2 km and leads to the Glatzinger Bründl. The two trails therefore differ both in length and in where they lead.
The “Jungfrauenstein No. 1” hike is family-friendly and runs mostly through shady sections of forest. Jungfrauenstein is a natural monument at the edge of the forest, where benches are available for resting. Another trail description leads to the Tiefenbach: Trail No. 2, “Lichthäusl,” passes through its gorge and by the remains of Kopfing’s first power station. You can choose from a family-friendly hike, a trail to a named destination, and a route with scenic and historical features.
From Ameisberg, the view stretches across the Hausruck toward the Alps. Its highest point is at 732 m; on the southern side, a rock face drops almost vertically by about 10 m. As route conditions can change, check them before setting out.
Culture, local traditions and pilgrimage
Kopfing Cultural Center includes a sculpture park and an herb garden. The art and culture park at the cultural center features wooden artworks. The local traditions room explores life around 1900, especially from women’s perspective. The cultural center thus focuses on both art and gardens and a cultural and historical exhibition.
You can arrange guided tours of the cultural center by calling Brigitte Ruhland at +43 680 20 21 415. Kopfing Parish Church was consecrated in 1905; Matthäus Schlager is named as its master builder. A Way of the Cross begins in front of the Maria Bründl pilgrimage church and heads toward Matzelsdorf. Each offers a distinct focus for your visit: the church, the exhibition or the Way of the Cross.
