The map of Embach (as of March 2022) identifies Berg as a named area. Embach is located on one of the most beautiful sunny plateaus in the Hohe Tauern National Park holiday region. This gives you a range of options when planning your trip: hiking trails, pilgrimage routes, activities related to traditional crafts and seasonal winter activities. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Berg, you can consider which of these options suits your travel dates and daily routine.
Hiking trails with a range of focuses
The Embach Berggolf hiking trail has eleven stations and is more than six kilometres long. The stations were made from old farming equipment. This means the trail combines a longer hike with a clear theme that unfolds from one station to the next.
The Embach circular hiking trails also offer different types of tours: the range extends from leisurely full-day hikes to challenging alpine pasture routes and demanding summit hikes. This gives you a way to decide in advance whether you would prefer a leisurely day hike or a more challenging route. Conditions on individual trails may change, so check the current situation when choosing a specific tour.
A five-kilometre footpath connects Embach and Lend. The classic Pinzgau Marian Way also passes through both villages. The Maria-Elend pilgrimage route runs from the local parish church via the Calvary Chapel to the Maria Elend Chapel. The chapel is one of the oldest pilgrimage sites in the Pinzgau region. These routes can be distinguished by their connections between villages, the Marian Way and the pilgrimage route.
Winter in Embach: lift, cross-country trail and walking routes
The Hörndllift is particularly suited to beginner skiers, those returning to skiing and families. It has two slopes, a drag lift and a baby lift. If you are planning your winter days around the lift, check its current operating hours in advance.
The cross-country ski trail starts in the town centre near the Sporthotel. It leads across snow-covered fields with a gentle incline, through woodland and meadows, and back to the mountain village of Embach. Its availability in winter depends on the weather. Other ways to get active include winter hiking and snowshoeing through the snow-covered natural landscape; these activities are also weather-dependent. This gives you a choice of winter activities: skiing at the lift, cross-country skiing on the trail or walking.
Traditional crafts, herb garden and regional products
Bread baking and pottery are offered as activities in Embach. Another highlight is the Hoadabauer herb garden, with its relaxation terrace and scented pavilion. If you are interested in activities like these as well as hiking and winter sports, they offer a range of themes to consider when planning your trip.
For Fritz Katstaller – Genuss ab Hof, Berg 3, a local food guide from October 2023 lists fresh eggs, honey, jams, fine spirits and liqueurs. If you are planning to buy a specific product, check its current availability in advance.
