An ecological trail was created in the district center of Yangikishlak as part of an ecotourism project. Visitors can experience local biodiversity in its natural setting.

Getting to Forish District

The D048 state road runs through Forish District along the 90-kilometer Jizzakh – Bog'don – Qizilcha – D191 route. Minibuses and shared taxis regularly run from Yangiqishloq to the Gorod bus station in Jizzakh. There is no direct public bus service from Tashkent to Yangiqishloq. Since schedules can change, it is best to check your connection before departure.

Cycling, Hiking and Horse Riding

A four-day cycling tour goes to Lake Aydarkul. Swimming is possible there during the warmer months. The tour includes two nights at Sayyod Yurt Camp and one night with a host family in Asraf. Cycling is therefore combined with two different types of accommodation.

Nuratau Travel is based in Bog'don, formerly known as Yangiqishloq. The company promotes community-based tourism in villages in the Nuratau Mountains and organizes hiking tours, homestays, yurt camping, and other ecotourism activities. Horse-riding options include rides through the Uhum Valley and to Lake Aydarkul, as well as cultural excursions to the villages of Asraf and Hayat.

Culture and Historic Routes

The folk-ethnographic ensemble “Bogdon” performs songs, lapars, aitys, and examples of oral folk art reflecting the history, customs, and traditions of Forish District. At the international “Boysun bahori” Folklore Festival, the “Bog‘don” ensemble took first place in the category of national folk games and performing arts. A report from 2021 dates the start of the group “Bogʻdon gullari” performing under this name to 1982.

Bog'don's historical role also provides context: a regionally significant transit trade route passed through the town and over mountain passes toward Sughd. The Sovurbel Pass connects Bog'don with Qarobdol and Garasha and is considered particularly scenic in spring. Two specific points are relevant when choosing the season: swimming is possible at Lake Aydarkul during the warmer months, while the pass is described as particularly scenic in spring. Teahouses were built for travelers to rest beside a spring at the foot of the northern slope of the Sovurbel Pass.

Natural Setting of Jizzax Province

In the broader destination of Jizzax Province, Nurota Nature Reserve lies in the central part of the Nurota Mountains in the Jizzakh region. It covers approximately 17,800 hectares and was established to protect the Severtzov argali population. Near Upper Mojrum in Forish District stands an Oriental arborvitae tree about 2,000 years old, considered an ecotourism site.

In the wider area around the nature reserve, there is a 16-hectare enclosure near Upper Hayot for keeping and breeding Severtzov argali. Guesthouses operate in Upper Hayot, Upper Uhum, Asrof, and Porasht.
