Livingston Manor is located on the edge of Catskill Park. Several specific reasons to visit come together in the town: Willowemoc Creek and its fishing opportunities, a park with a covered bridge and winter activities, as well as art and architectural history. If you’re looking for time outdoors, you can focus on the river and park; if you prefer culture, you’ll find destinations of your own at the Catskill Art Space and the historic churches.
Willowemoc Creek and Outdoor Activities
The Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum has a 50-acre campus in Livingston Manor along a one-mile stretch of Willowemoc Creek. The campus has walking trails and a two-acre pond. This brings different aspects of the grounds into focus: the connection to the river, trails for walking, and a dedicated body of water.
School trips to the Center can include local history, the basics of fly fishing, entomology, a museum scavenger hunt, casting demonstrations, outdoor exploration, and hands-on crafts. These activities are specifically for school trips and give an insight into the range of group programs available there.
Other activities are listed at Livingston Manor Covered Bridge Park: the park offers snowshoeing and snow activities. Visitors are allowed to fish in Willowemoc Creek at the park. Livingston Manor Covered Bridge is 103 feet long and spans the creek. This makes it possible to distinguish between different interests when planning: fishing opportunities by the water and snow activities in the same named park.
Public fishing access points include locations within 20 minutes, including areas along Main Street. The 27-mile-long Willowemoc Creek runs along it. This adds other named access points to the fishing spot at Covered Bridge Park; when choosing, it therefore matters which location you plan to visit.
Art and Architectural History
Sol LeWitt’s Wall Drawing #991 and Wall Drawing #992 are on view at the Catskill Art Space from 2022 to 2027. Admission is free. If you visit after 2027, check whether the works are still on display; it’s also a good idea to check current admission information before your visit.
Several buildings offer specific points of connection to local history. Livingston Manor Covered Bridge was built in 1860 by John Davidson. It was first called Mott Flats Bridge and later Vantran Bridge. In the village of Livingston Manor, the Methodist Episcopal Church is considered the oldest known and documented building; it was built in 1857. The First Presbyterian Church of Purvis dates from 1880, and Purvis was the community’s original name. The dates thus distinguish the history of the bridge from the architectural history of the two churches.
Market and Getting There
In 2026, the Livingston Manor Farmers’ Market is open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the grounds between 62 and 66 Main Street. The timing is therefore specifically on a Saturday. For future seasons, check the current market dates, since the schedule given applies to 2026.
The Catskill Art Space is accessible via Routes 17 (I-86), 55, and 52. The ShortLine-Hudson bus service connects Livingston Manor with Kingston and New York City, among other destinations. If you’re planning to take the bus, check the current schedule before departure: routes and times can change. This lets you factor the directions to the Catskill Art Space and the bus connection into your plans separately.
