Eight RCSC golf courses and the 33-acre Viewpoint Lake give Sun City distinct recreational highlights. They are complemented by a wide range of clubs, a three-story model railroad layout and the history of a model home. The topics range from activities with specifically defined user and time requirements to architectural and institutional insights. If you are considering Sun City as a travel destination, you can decide in advance which highlights you would like to shape your stay.

Golf and recreation by the water

The RCSC Member Cardholder Guide, revised in February 2026, lists eight golf courses spread across 1,100 acres and located within six miles of one another. The acreage puts the golf offering in perspective, while the distance describes how closely the courses are grouped. Guests of RCSC member cardholders in good standing can use RCSC golf facilities at a reduced rate. Guest rules and prices may change; check the terms again before planning a round.

The guide also describes Viewpoint Lake as a 33-acre man-made lake in Sun City's recreation system. Paddleboats and rowboats are available free of charge to RCSC member cardholders and their invited guests through the Lakeview Mini Golf Facility Attendant. Fishing is permitted from sunrise to sunset and does not require a state fishing license; the lake's rules and restrictions apply.

Clubs, model railroads and history

The guide also lists a total of 125 RCSC Chartered Clubs at Sun City's recreation centers and describes their offerings as diverse. Alongside individual recreational activities, a broad network of clubs is another aspect of the city's character.

The Sun City Model Railroad Club maintains a 1,600-square-foot, three-story HO-scale layout at the Fairway Recreation Center in Sun City, Arizona. The HO-scale designation identifies the scale; the three levels and floor area convey the layout's size. The club is open to visitors on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Check visiting hours again before your visit.

The Del Webb Sun Cities Museum opened in 1990 as the Sun Cities Area Historical Society and was renamed after Del Webb in 2010. The years mark two different milestones: its beginnings under its original name and its later renaming. The museum is located in Kentworth, the first of Sun City's five model homes; the house measures 858 square feet. This distinguishes the history of the institution from that of the model home: the years refer to the museum, while Kentworth and the floor area describe the building.

The practical planning details also vary depending on your focus: for the model railroad club, the day of the week and time matter; for fishing, the time of day and lake rules; and for golf, guest status and the reduced rate. Visiting hours, rules and terms are therefore separate considerations.
