If you want to combine nature, local history and a range of recreational offerings in Buckeye, you’ll find several distinct highlights. Buckeye Hills Regional Park showcases natural desert landscape, while Skyline Regional Park offers a large mountain preserve and miles of trails. In Downtown Buckeye, Hobo Joe is a prominent landmark, while the museum and the history of transportation offer further perspectives on the area. There are also motorsports, skydiving, an Aquatic Center and offerings at Hidden Lake. For your planning, it’s worth deciding first whether landscape, history or a particular activity is your priority.

Landscape and Trails

Buckeye Hills Regional Park spans 4,453 acres of natural desert landscape. In contrast, Skyline Regional Park is an 8,700-acre mountain preserve in the southern White Tank Mountains. This gives you two distinct natural environments to choose from: desert landscape at Buckeye Hills or a mountain preserve at Skyline. Skyline also has miles of trails for hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders. When planning the nature portion of your trip, you can consider the landscape and your preferred activity together.

Local History and Museum

In Downtown Buckeye, Hobo Joe overlooks Main Street. The statue is 25 feet tall and returned to its place in 2020 as the mascot of Downtown Buckeye. Hobo Joe thus links a distinctive street landmark with a more recent chapter in the area’s history.

The Buckeye Valley Museum houses pre-Columbian pottery, historical photographs and local artifacts from Buckeye’s earliest days. The collection ranges from pottery dating to the pre-Columbian era to items from the area’s early days; historical photographs add visual material. The museum is listed as a certified historic institution in Maricopa County.

Two dates illustrate the early history of transportation: the Arizona Eastern Railroad reached Buckeye in 1910. By 1915, the area was connected to its first highway. The railroad and highway mark different stages in this history and add to the perspectives offered by the museum and Hobo Joe.

Recreational Offerings

Arizona Cycle Park has championship tracks for dirt bikes, quads, sand rails and UTVs. Skydive Buckeye offers skydiving year-round. These are different activity highlights: the Cycle Park focuses on several types of vehicles, while skydiving is available throughout the year. Details at the Cycle Park and Skydive Buckeye schedules may change. Check the latest information before making firm plans for an activity.

Buckeye Aquatic Center has a beach-style area with a zero-depth entry, water attractions and diving facilities. These include a 10-foot-high diving tower and a 160-foot-long water slide. The center operates seasonally, and features may change; check current operating and offering details before your visit.

The 2027 Buckeye Air Fair program includes an air show, historic and military aircraft, action-packed demonstrations and Aviation Academy exhibits. The program may change from one edition to the next. If you’re including the event in your travel plans, check the details for the edition you plan to attend.

Hidden Lake offers day passes, boat rentals, camping and birdwatching. Reservations are required for Hidden Lake. As offerings may change, check what’s available for your planned visit in advance and make a reservation.
