Goldach is part of the St. Gallen–Lake Constance tourism region. Several specific features shape the town as a place to stay: the suspension bridge over the Goldach, the lido by the lake, water sports at Rietli harbour and the history of St. Mauritius Church. When planning your trip, you can choose between time by the water, a pedestrian crossing over the bridge and cultural and historical discoveries.

Across the Goldach and towards Rantelwald

The Goldach suspension bridge is 85 metres long and crosses the river ten metres above the water. It first connects Goldach with Mörschwil; Untereggen is also accessible on foot from there. The suspension bridge is easy to reach on foot, and the Rantelwald barbecue area is nearby. The bridge opened in March 2023 and attracts visitors to Rantelwald.

The crossing over the river is a particularly clear point of reference: Goldach is first connected to Mörschwil, and Untereggen can then also be reached on foot. The bridge’s dimensions give the crossing its own character, while the nearby barbecue area provides another local landmark.

Lake, play and leisure

At the Goldach Delta, the Seegarten lido is right by the lake and offers relaxation and swimming fun for all ages. The Kellen meeting place offers a different focus for leisure. Its facilities include ten play islands, a bocce court and two public barbecue areas. Since opening in 2011, Kellen has been known beyond the municipal boundaries as an attraction for children and families.

The comparison highlights two different focal points: Seegarten centres on swimming and lakeside relaxation, while Kellen offers play, bocce and public barbecue areas. Depending on your interests, you can combine a stay in Goldach with time by the water or a visit to the varied meeting place.

Water sports at Rietli harbour

Rietli harbour offers water berths, mooring buoys and dry berths for water sports. The Goldach Sailing Club also has its clubhouse in the harbour and introduces young people to the joys of sailing. The three types of berths describe how the harbour is used; the sailing club adds a specific look at youth sailing. Travellers interested in sailing can therefore explore both the different harbour berths and the activities of the local club.

Church history in Goldach

St. Mauritius Church was first mentioned in writing in 1259. Excavations in the choir uncovered older traces dating back to the Carolingian period. In addition, excavations in 1979 confirmed traces of five predecessor buildings on the site of the church. The archaeological traces from the Carolingian period and the first written mention span a considerable period of history; the five predecessor buildings add further insight into the history of the church building.

The Paulus Chapel is also part of Goldach’s cultural offerings. Following its renovation in 2023/2024, it can now be used for religious and secular events such as readings and concerts. St. Mauritius and the Paulus Chapel thus represent two distinct religious sites connected with Goldach’s history and its present-day event scene.
