RankĂĄs is a recreational area on an esker formed by glacial meltwater, surrounded mainly by pine forest, with hiking, exercise and cycling trails. The landscape and the range of outdoor activities give the area its distinctive character.

Forest Trails, Cycling Routes and Water

The Jättens stig trail in Rankås is suitable for children and families; along the way, there are nature activities that change with the seasons. A trail by Prästberget has viewpoints and picnic spots. The first 1.7 kilometres of Å-leden are accessible to wheelchairs and strollers. Along the trail, there are also several fishing spots, jetties, and barbecue and rest areas.

To help choose a route, it is useful to distinguish between a circular route and a connecting path: the Tibro Centrum cycling loop is 8.2 kilometres long and rated easy and suitable for families. A walking and cycling path approximately 9.5 kilometres long connects the centre of Tibro with Fagersanna and follows the former route of the Karlsborgsbanan railway. The route guide for the cycling loop dates from 2013; check the current surface and signage before setting out.

Fishing, paddling and water skiing are possible at Lake Ă–rlen. As seasonal activities may depend on local conditions, it is advisable to check what is available before your outing.

Farmsteads, Architectural History and Crafts

BalterydsgĂĄrden is a well-preserved example of a large farm from the period of Swedish land consolidation. Its offerings include themed exhibitions and a traditional Midsummer celebration; check the dates before your trip. Balteryd HembygdsgĂĄrd includes a fully operational old forge from Orrebo. Public access and demonstrations may vary.

The origins of Brännhults hembygdsgård date back to the 17th century. The site includes two comparable residential buildings, outbuildings and a peat hut that was moved here. Events include a waffle day in early summer and a heritage festival with various activities in August. Here, too, you should check the dates before travelling.

BrittgĂĄrden offers a different perspective on history: this modernist residential development in Tibro was designed by Ralph Erskine and built between 1959 and 1969. It is valued for its cultural and architectural significance and the unusual layouts of its apartments.

The Tibro Museum explores the development from small workshops in furniture makers’ homes to large-scale industrial furniture production. Its exhibits include an authentic workshop from the 1920s. In June 2026, the municipality reported that the museum was closed and that work was underway on a new location for the museum’s activities.

Industrial history can also be seen at Tidebergsbron: the three-span stone bridge crosses the Tidan at Smuleberg and was built in 1914. Remains of Tibro kvarn, including foundations and machine parts, can be seen at the bridge’s western abutment. Häggetorp is also home to a very well-preserved granary, probably dating from the second half of the 19th century. Further afield in the region, Åreberg lies north of the town centre at a point where the Tidan divides into three branches; its well-preserved industrial setting includes several important industrial heritage sites.

Glass, Art and Activities

Tibro Glasverkstad is located in the old railway station building and sells glass made in Tibro. It operates year-round; check current access details before visiting. Guided glassblowing sessions are also available, where you can take home your own creation. Confirm the current arrangements before booking an appointment. Ateljé Blocking is the exhibition space of Tibro Konstförening, showing works by local and national artists. As exhibitions may change, it is worth checking the current programme before visiting.

There are different options for activities to enjoy together: at Tibro Mini-Zoo, visitors can see and get close to goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs and ducks. Picnic areas and a barbecue area are also available; check the current opening details before visiting. Tibro Actionpark is open day and night, year-round, and can be used to practise tricks on a skateboard or bicycle. Tibro also has two disc golf courses: one with 18 baskets at Ă…naplan and one with 9 baskets near FĂĄgelviksslingan.

Regional Produce and Café Classics

Lilla Spännefalla sells meat and sausages from its own farm, as well as regional delicacies such as honey and jams. Mobolets Musteri offers juice made from locally grown apples and provides an insight into juice production; access may be seasonal. Bagare Brage has been part of Tibro’s café scene since the 1950s. Its selection includes freshly baked rolls, chocolates and classics such as semlor and Danish pastries. Check the current opening details before visiting.
