Tollered combines an industrial character that has endured to this day with marked trails and activities on the water. This gives you several clear options for planning: explore the area’s history, choose a circular route or set aside time by the lakes.

Industrial History and Local Life

Tollered’s historic character still includes factory buildings, homes, inns, shops, a clinic, a fire station and mills. This mix of production sites, homes and facilities such as the clinic and fire station draws attention beyond the history of the factories alone.

One specific landmark is Tollered Öfvre Kraftstation, an industrial heritage site managed by a museum association. Contact them by telephone or email in advance to visit the museum. The Nääs Fabriker app offers a self-guided historical tour of Tollered. Tours of the industrial site can be booked year-round.

Smaller cultural venues are also part of the picture: Smedjan is a rustic blacksmith’s workshop dating from 1833, with a stage and bar. The Tollereds Bio Folkets Bio cinema is located at Volrath Bergs väg 7. Fika is sold at its cinema café during the film intermission; as the café offerings may change, check what is available before your visit.

Circular Routes and Scenery

Tollered has signs about local history and marked hiking trails. Three circular routes start at Nääs Fabriker, covering 3, 5.4 or 8 km, so you can choose a distance that suits your plans.

If you prefer to plan a trail section rather than a circular route, Section 7 of the Gotaleden runs from Tollered to Norsesund. The trail passes through forests and pastureland and goes by old farms and swimming lakes. This gives you a choice between circular routes of different lengths and a section with a named destination.

Lakes and Activities on the Water

The area around Tollered has a connected paddling system of eight lakes, including Torskabotten and Ömmern. Lake Sävelången is suitable for canoe trips lasting from about an hour to a full day.

Sjölyckan is located on Lake Sävelången in Tollered and has a canoe station as well as a raft available to rent for trips on the lake. Raft trips are also offered there; you can also rent a fishing boat with an electric motor on the lake. Confirm individual offers before your trip. Nääs Fabriker offers kayaks for rent seasonally. The availability of rental offers depends on the provider.

A short walk of about 20 minutes leads from Sjölyckan through Tollered to Lake Torskabotten. The Torskabotten swimming area is in southern Tollered. It has swimming jetties, a raft and ladders. The shoreline includes sandy and grassy areas; there is also a barbecue area, waste bins, a dry toilet and benches with tables. Parking is right next to the area.
