Cliffs up to 50 meters high line the Nipleden trail. The hiking trail begins at Sollefteå Camping on Risön in the center of Sollefteå and can be walked in its entirety or in suitable sections. Kulturstråket in the town center and the trails at Hallstaberget also offer different ways to spend your stay.

Hiking and trails around Sollefteå

The Nipleden is 27 kilometers long. Much of the route follows the Nipor; in places, it is steep and narrow. If you don’t want to hike the entire route, you can choose suitable sections. This gives you the choice between a longer route and walking just one section. Sollefteå’s landscape is also characterized by river valleys and forest.

Hallstaberget has marked running and walking trails through hilly terrain with varied surfaces. Hullstaklippen is a short, easily accessible day hike there; the trail starts at Hotell Hallstaberget. The hiking options described here therefore differ not only in length: on the Nipleden, you can choose between the entire 27-kilometer route and shorter sections, while Hullstaklippen is considered a short day hike.

Ski trails and seasonal activities at Hallstaberget

At the summit of Hallstaberget, the ski stadium has a total of 60 kilometers of well-maintained ski trails through varied terrain. Hallsta’s roller-ski track is described as one of Sweden’s most challenging and varied tracks. Both cross-country ski trails and a roller-ski track are available here; the two differ in how they are used and are described in different terms.

Hallsta Ski refers to the activities offered at Hallstaberget in summer and winter. The seasonal activities available may vary. Hallstaberget also has marked running and walking trails. So if you want to choose the focus of your trip according to the season, you’ll find both winter sports and other opportunities to be active here, although not all activities are tied to the same season.

In the Hågestön recreation area, a walking trail loops around the island; in winter, a ski slope is added. Conditions on the seasonal route may vary. The change from a loop trail to a winter activity makes Hågestön another option for tailoring your stay to your preferred focus.

Art and history in the town center

Kulturstråket is an art experience in the town center that brings together history and art. It begins at the center of Gågatan near Atti Gränd and offers a walk along Minnenas allé for locals and visitors. The route provides an urban contrast to the longer hiking trails and the paths at Hallstaberget.

One architectural highlight is Tingshuset, designed by Folke Zetterwall. It reflects the National Romantic style of the period around the turn of the previous century and features distinctive Norwegian and Scottish elements. Ådalsbyn is located in the park between the former Tingshuset and the Nipvallen sports ground. The former function of Tingshuset remains part of its history; Ådalsbyn is another named location in the town, situated in this park.

Paddling and getting around locally

Sollefteåguiderna rents kayaks for exploring the Ångermanälven and offers both day trips and overnight paddling tours. The paddling options therefore range from a day trip to a tour with an overnight stay. As availability may change, it’s a good idea to check directly with the provider for current options.

For getting between Hallstaberget and the town center, the municipality recommends driving as the most convenient option; the route is also manageable on foot. The return walk to the mountain then climbs two kilometers uphill. This is a practical difference to consider if you want to combine a visit to the town center with a stay at Hallstaberget: allow for the climb on the return walk.
